Need advise on speakers for my new to me 996
Hello
I recently purchased a 1999 Porsche 911 with the factory sound system still in place. While in 99 the cassette player was common place is seems out of place in current times Heck my 12 year old did not even know what it was.
SO I am having a hard time finding speakers for the dash and the rear panels that
A. Fit
B. won’t break the bank
C. Sound good
My 996 did not come with factory door speakers.
What are you guys using for speakers??
I am planning on running the following
1. Kenwood KDC-BT955HD head unit
2. PPI P900.5 5 channel amp (70x4 and 440*1)
3. Car Audio Innovations PKGSEC996.1: Level 1: Complete wood enclosure w/3 6.5" W3 subwoofers
4. Front dash speakers TBD
5. Rear panel speakers TBD

Not sure what size you can fit but try and find speakers with silk dome tweeters rather than cheap polyester used in bargain speakers. Audition as much as possible and trust your ears. Talk to a specialist shop and see what they suggest that will fit.

If you feel adventurous and have some simple diy skill, look at partsexpress.com their dayton reference drivers for the mids and highs are really good for the money. i just replaced an older focal set with the daytons and they are superb. i use the Dayton Audio RS100-4 4" Reference Full-Range Driver 4 Ohm for the mids and the Dayton Audio ND16FA-6 5/8" Neodymium Dome Tweeter for the highs crossed over at 4500k.

Thats a really good idea, I had not thought about making my own componet sets. I ended up going with a two sets of Diamond Audio 4" componets. Good sound, great price and low complexity installation.
