Default Home audio active crossovers

Does anyone use an active crossover when bi-amplifying their speakers?

If so, which model do you have or any you recommend?

Long story short, I'm copying what this guy did to his Carver AL-III's to modify my own, including the sub upgrade.

I just need a single 200Hz crossover point for this.
I would like a model that allows me to shut off each channel.

Hacker,
Have you made any progress yet? I have 2 sets of ALIII's. One of the original and one of the ALII II's, these do not have the cross over controls. I'm going to try the upgrades in the link you supplied also. I have been looking at the Carvin XD360 for the active cross over.

I have not started the upgrade yet, finally found a set of those Infinity woofers so I can start getting the rest of the pieces together.

Talking to one of our resident electronic guru's in the 928 forum, he recommended using a DSP as the crossover:

He also had this to say: "you NEED to install a protection cap in front of the ribbon for turn-on pops if you go active with any device"

Thanks for the update. I wanted the Carvin for other speaker testing, but I just read the DSP manual and its just as nice and much cheaper. I can get 2 for less money and have up to a 1x4 for each channel.

The hot number is the Behringer DCX2496. It gives you the digital crossover plus eq. in one unit and it can be modded for very high performance. It has a very good DAC too.
