Carplay Upgrade Complete. Need help putting PCM back in!
#2
I've been dabbling in car audio since I was a teenager, over 30 years, and have struggled with this many times, especially after doing the Carplay addition to my 981 Boxster S. A poster on here a few months ago posted a trick that I was embarrassed I had never seen or thought of. (I don't recall the poster's name but BIG thanks) After bundling the wires cleanly and kind of getting them sort of how you want them, put a long cable tie around part of it but don't cut off the "tail" of the cable tie. Then snake the tail of the tie in the direction where you want the cables and then out to somewhere you can reach it under or behind the dash/console. (Depending on length, you might have to add a second one to it to make it long enough) Then, as you're putting the PCM back in, you can pull on that cable tie to pull the wire bundle in the direction you want it. Then when done, either shove it up under the dash or cut off what you can. Took me a couple times to figure out where best to tie it to the cable bundle and where to route it, but once I got it, it worked like a charm.
