Default Stone Guard R&R??

Has anyone removed and replaced the factory stone guards on the rear quarter panels?

The new ones are on 3M backing paper so I'm guessing its the same process used with clear bra?

Any experience out there?

Thx

This is one of the first things I replace on any new P car I buy..

I buy the factory stuff (thicker than just a 3M clear bra and a perfect fit) and take it to my paint shop guy.. He usually will R&R both of them for $50. For that cheap I dont want to chance messing it up.. they do these things all day long so I figure I'll let the pro handle it..

Clothes steamer is safest. Super easy just take your time. Putting new ones on at fifty bucks a pop can be tricky. Agree with previous poster regarding install. Paint and body that deals with Porsche or a good clear bra guy.

Easy DIY. Hair dryer to warm old and peal off. Slowly. Pulling in opposite direction from the corner you're pulling from.

Apply after cleaning that area very well with something like Tar X and then a thorough wash to remove the solvent.

Apply as per other clear bra - small amount of kids shampoo in a spray bottle with slightly warm water. Spray the guard and the rear quarter with more than you think you need. Apply and manoeuvre until it's in the right spot. Suggest lining up along the bottom edge in the first instance then top rear.

Also suggest not doing it outside when there's a chance of a rogue breeze ruining it with specs of dust...

I ordered directly from the Porsche dealer and twice they came in bad. By the way it said "3M" on the back. I gave up and just left my OEM ones one. They have "patina".

This is what I used to replace mine. I installed mine without any major issues. The steamer makes the clear film more flexible and easier to apply to the car surface. I was able to reapply mine with no issues...but like other's have said, if you're not comfortable with doing this take your car to a good clear bra guy.

Dealer replaced mine in first 30 days. Original yellowed. Not sure on the product they used but it's still on there today and looks as good as new.
