Default 2007 Turbo with FVD

Hello 997TT fans,

I'm looking at a 2007 Turbo but I'm certain about some modifications the previous owner has done. The car has the following options:
- 6 MT
- Heated Front Seats
- Adaptive Sport Seats
- Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB)
and a few more accessories.

But here is a list of the modifications:
FVD Stage III package, where the upgrades include larger turbos, CPU, Cold Air Intake, and exhaust. It was supposedly performed at a factory authorized Porsche dealer, and carried the balance of the factory warranty.

Should I be worried about the mods? How can I take my precautions? Mileage is 35k and asking price seems reasonable at 70k.

Thank you for your inputs.

FVD is a well known Porsche tuner for almost 40yrs, going back to the 959 days. Sounds like a good car.

You're getting the benefit of a fairly expensive aftermarket upgrade for "free" as $70k is a good price for a 30k mile 6sp 997.1 with PCCB. If you were going to mod the car yourself, this is a good deal for sure. However, if you wanted a stock car, this is not it.

It's a good deal for someone that was looking to mod.

Agree that if you are looking for a car with mods this is a reasonable looking deal.
Take a look at the wear and tear on the car in general to get a feel for how prior owner(s) have treated it. Does it have OEM (or similar) tires etc. how is the interior holding up? these factors can help indicate if the car has been looked after or ragged. Having owned a number of pre-modded cars I would say that knowing the provenance and how it was treated previously helps in predicting future issues. Even at this end of the market there are owners who mod and then thrash their cars.

...oh and a personal gripe: it's not a CPU, it's an ECU. Maybe I'm wrong but I always judge a seller based on their knowledge of the details (assuming you copied that from the for sale info)...

I'm very happy about the positive attitude with this Turbo with those mods.
Vbb, I was looking for a stock car but the prices in Canada for a stock manual Turbo coupe are not so reasonable.
Phsingl, you are correct I did copy that info and it should have been ECU. From my understanding (although I will verify it), it should be a 2 owner car so I guess a PPI and DME will give me better confidence in the car.

Now at this price, I'm debating going for a less expensive 993 C4 or go for this beast...

Having driven both, not even a decision.
