I originally paid $2500 for the powertrain aftermarket warranty 4 years 50k miles. Obviously the warranty has paid for itself almost 4 times over. The claim was seamless and they didn't blink an eye when it came time to pay the dealership, I'm thoroughly impressed in Hendrick guard warranty.

They also let me keep the old camshaft just incase I have this failure in the future I can have the old cams pinned, but I doubt I will have the issue in the future being that both sides have been replaced.
Good to hear your warranty covered the repairs even though you had mods. Did you remove the mods when you took the car in? If not, did a rep from the warranty company inspect the car?

What makes you think the problem will not come back? The cams you reinstalled are OEM and unpinned correct?

I did not remove the tune or exhaust, and yes Hendrick Guard warranty company did fly a rep out to inspect the car but my service advisor told me they were literally there for 10 mins (rep looked at the failed camshaft and said ok repair it.) very seamless. It also does help to have a relationship with your dealer as I was very upfront with the dealer and told them I had an aftermarket tune and exhaust and they said no problem. You have to think if the dealer was upfront with the warranty company and said hey this guy has a tune and exhaust on his car they would immediately deny the claim which would result in no repair and lost revenue for the dealer.

Does anyone know the cost to just pin the cam shafts?

I just looked at my invoice and they don't break it down with that much granularity. It was a package price so unfortunately I can't tell you what the machining and pinning cost by themselves.

Thank you for the responses.

This does not seem to be terrible at all if one is capable of pulling the cams

Pulling the cams is one thing. Timing this motor up is an entirely different beast.

Good point.

Wonder how much more involved it is compared to a coyote/mod motor. That job wasn't fun

Successful actuator swap and no CEL with 60miles on the clock so far. Will update if it pops back. Car is running way smoother now. I think the old actuator was malfunctioning even before the CEL was triggered. My idle had gone to **** over the past few months that it made me think my mounts were bad.

Default Dreaded Spun Camshaft??

Car has 33k miles....on way home from work, car had massive misfire. Limped home on 3 cylinders. Scanner showed:

P0300 Multiple cylinder Misfire
P0301 Misfire Bank 1
P0302 Misfire Bank 2
P0303 Misfire Bank 3
P0016 Camshaft position correlation Bank 1
P0011 Camshaft position timing over advanced Bank 1

Praying it is a defective camshaft solenoid/actuator.

2007 911 turbo 6spd

Doesn't look like it. Those misfires may have caused the CPS error
