997 turbo Windows will not close completely
So I just bought a 997 turbo and I am having the following issue. From the inside of the car with the windows up both side I can open either door from the inside and the Windows crack 10 mm then when I exit the car and close the doors the Windows will not completely close. They stay in the 10 mm down position. Ideas on which relay could be bad in BOTH doors?

Before taking it to the dealer, are you sure your battery is holding charge? Check the battery voltage.
Also, get in the car and start it (so as not to drain the battery). Hold the driver side window switch till it fully opens and keep the switch pressed for a second longer, then hold the switch till fully closes and hold the switch for a second longer. Do this a about three times and the window should learn where it is positioned. Sometimes when the battery runs low or it's disconnected the window goes into safe mode and stays 10 mm lower so that in case you close or open the door you don't shatter the window.
The key is to hold the switch till the window closes and then some, so it can get a good read on full closed and full open. This should fix the driver side, then do the same thing for the passenger side and that should fix that (just remember that the passenger side does not have a fully automatic close, you have to hold the switch past about 1/3-1/2 up before it closes the window automatically.
If the above does not work, try the dealer or an indy. Good luck.

My Nissan Nevara had that same problem, and I held the switch down for a few seconds and it also reset it.
I found that on Google. I was about to go and buy a new master switch as well.
Happy ending, like yours will be.

Well I tried the holding switches down and up thing and unfortunately I still have the same problem. It was worth a shot. I'm guessing I need new interior door switches at the outside latch bet that will not be cheap. Hopefully I can replace the switch and not have to replace the entire outside handle/latch.

I used to have a lightweight battery in my car that I used to remotely turn off when I used to leave the car and the windows would have that issue. I talked to a dealer at the time and they quoted me all kinds of crazy prices for parts that needed to be changed. I just refused to believe that a company full of engineers like Porsche would design a system that would be that stupid.
The only thing that came to mind was that when the power is cut, the sensors would not know the position of the window and the only way to reset those sensors would be to go to full close and full open. When I tried it, it worked.
I then tried it on my Vette that had the same issue and bingo it worked on that one too............ So I think it's a more general fix than just for Porsche.

I just tried the raset procedure again 3x's each but it does not seem to fix the issue. I wish it did. I guess I'll have to take the doors apart and replace the micro switches. Just wish I knew which ones were faulty....grrrrr

Hold the button till the window opens fully and keep holding for a couple of seconds and do the same when you roll the window up.

Well I plugged the diametric software in and it shows that the door switches are fault coding so looks like I know the problem now. Thanks for the suggestions on an easy fix wish it were so.
