Is tip really that bad?
So yes I want a 6 speed 997.1, however the pricing on the tip is significantly less for lower mileage. Is driving the tip really that bad? Would I really regret getting a tip after awhile?

YES, & YES. There is a reason the TIP is less.. if you want a tip go up to a 2010 & get PDK although I think you are trying to make your dollars go... pick up a manual 997.1. easier to sell and will hold better value.

If you want a manual transmission, then you will be disappointed with a Tiptronic transmission. You'll likely be disappointed with a PDK transmission too. Some people simply prefer manual shifting with three pedals.

Lot of Tip TT owners biting their tongues... What do you mean is Tip really that bad? The answer is "it is if you wanted a 6 speed in the first place."
Clearly you answered some of your own question... if you WANT a 6 speed of course you will regret not getting what you want. The question you may be asking is if you want the 6 speed in the first place?! We wanted a Tip car for every other reason than having something to shift all the time and I guarantee we would have found reasons to regret buying a 6 speed if we had not gotten what we wanted. That wouldn't make the purchase of a tip TT a bad thing, investment wise or otherwise.
What are you buying the car for? To drive on the track, to drive to work every day or to put in a jar and keep for an investment?
I say if you want a Porsche 997TT buy whatever you want after weighing pros and cons as you see them. If you want an investment, buy 1000 shares of Starbucks for the same price! We have tripled our investment in the first Porsche Turbo we bought and there are a lot of cars that would have been a "better investment" at the time!
We do not happen to have the cash to buy 200k cars! We bought our 08 tip TT six months ago for 100k less than the original owners paid with 8256 miles, equipped it with a 7yr 100,000 mile warranty and are confident we are driving one of the best investments we ever made in a car! Someone paid 12.50 per mile to drive that car for 7 years and it will NEVER cost us that kind of change! We don't buy new cars for exactly that reason. We may be a few years behind the technological times but in a few years we will be able to buy todays new 997 PDK cars for 100k less than sticker too and we will find one with tiny mileage the same way we recently did this 08 car if that is what we want.
If you can afford to buy any Porsche 997TT, the decision you need to make is whether you want to shift gears in the car all the time and nothing else! If you find an incredible tip car and love it, you should not regret anything about it. Once you learn how to actually drive the Tip it is way flexible and surprisingly fun to drive in a different way than any "automatic" or "stick shift" car we have ever had! So we love it!
Plus, I can do a clutch job on the first Turbo we bought in about 2 hours, for a few hundred dollars.... not so much the 997 car!

Not bad at all but simply a different car.
Some prefer tip, some prefer manual.
Make up your mind and go from there.
As I said, you are buying a different car depending on what transmission you choose. They look the same, they sound the same but the driving experience is different.
There a many more tiptronic cars out there making the manual (more) rare, hence higher prices.
