Default Programming keys

Hey quick question for every one on here. I recently purchased a xtool x100 tablet which has many options for various cars as well as the option of being able to program new keys to the car. I am just wondering if anyone has tried this product and if so can give a review of it. Below is the eBay link of the item I am talking about.

I have lost my keys for my '08 997 TT.

Placed many calls this past week to Porsche dealers regarding obtaining new keys.

Every single person stated that only Porsche dealerships with their proprietary software can program a new key for you. Furthermore, your vehicle must be present at the dealership as well.

They (service managers/advisors, parts managers) also said indies cannot program a key.

That's all I got. My vehicle sits keyless and in hibernation during our Michigan winter. I'll probably have to trailer my car 100 miles to the dealership when the winter breaks.

I have a key already for my car but was going to add one more. With that being said my key blade was already cut from a gentleman in Germany. As far as programming I have been in contact with the company that produces the xtool and they have told me that it does have the capabilities of programming keys by reading the necessary info stored in the computer within the Porsche. I will let you know how it works out. Also sorry to hear about your situation.

I got an indy (RUF here in Dee Eff Dubya) to program my new key in the past, BUT they did have to link to the mothership in Germany to get the correct codes..

Good info here!

That would be cool if the xtool works, well worth the investment pending confirmation.

Think ill check with my local european indie to see if they can crack the coding.

I'll report back.

Although I haven't had new keys programmed yet, 2 local Indy's with the latest PIWIS systems have both told me they can program keys (and have many times) with no problems.

Interested to see how xtool works...OP you will have to start a loaner program if so

I would be very interested to see if this works. On one of my old 997 I asked a bunch of shops before resorting to the dealership.

Keep in mind, I am in SoCal and there are a lot of big Porsche shops and they all said they couldn't do it. Fortunately I was able to get a really good deal to get the key programmed at the dealership.

Guys once I receive the product I will let you know. I actually ordered a used key remote from eBay to use the " chip" and also the internal electronics so I can transplant them into brand new remote case and newly cut key blade. From what I have read about the xtool is that it pulls the necessary info from the computer assigned to the keys and rewrites them on the used chipped key. The price of the tool wasn't too bad. If this does work I wouldn't mind loanin it out or meeting up with guys locally to help them out.

I already have a blank cut for my car and a new remote, just need to get it programmed...such a hassle though to have to make an appt, drive to the dealer and pay $80 + the over charging on the keys themselves. How could a key cost close to $500?

Well as expected the product is umm garbage lol . It only works with the Porsche Cayenne lol . I been in touch with the company and I am awaiting their response but for me it doesn't make this worth the $512 price tag. I will give more info when I get it.

Yes, had to bring the car in, when they plug it in the pwis there is a series of screens they go thru to program the key to your vin.

Thanks for taking one for the team. Its too bad it didn't work, but hopefully you have an Indy or dealer with PIWIS that isn't trying to make a killing for 10 min of mouse clicks.
