After changing the small o-ring in the filter housing, I've not experienced the panzer rattle racket that I'd be getting on nearly every cold start. The issue seems completely resolved after the new o-ring

I will check again to make sure. I barely drive my car due to my work calendar being filled with other priorities.

I also use the Redline blend. I used to be a Mobil 1 stalwart, but some reading a decade ago about "synthetic" vs. truly synthetic oils had me change. I am pretty much a Redline convert using almost every lubricant from Redline. Expensive, but it is absolutely worth it.

Ladies and gents, the o-ring did not solve my intermittent startup. I practically blew my lid in the other thread about why doesn’t anyone know what this common “issues” is after all these years. Haha.

Next is Mobil 5W-50 oil and once again I’ll report back.

If oil doesn’t fix it then I’ll follow up with new chain tensioners. If that doesn’t fix it I’ll move on with my life and just keep driving it as is.

I am changing my driver side hydraulic actuator. No code or anything...but I only get the rattle from the driver side.

Same experience here. The dealer didn’t even stock them. I had to buy them from Pelican. No other source could be found online, and no point in risking it despite them costing more than gold by weight. I replace every couple oil changes.

That o ring doesn’t “fix” anything.

But it’s good to replace it.

I think the reason they are not included with the oil filter is because they are much more expensive than a regular o-ring.

.46 each but I agree with jeebus31 doesn't fix anything.

It definitely does not fix the rattle. Maybe some STP oil additive.

that link pulls up 7 o rings, the most expensive being $83 each.

This is exactly what happened to me as well. Changed the ring and the noise was fixed.
