Default Spark Plug Advice Needed

I posted this in 6speed as well - but given that the car is in the shop currently hoping for some quick feedback.
2011 Turbo S with 15K miles. Stock except for x-pipe exhaust installed about 3 months ago. Starting having some initial hesitation under WOT at about 2600-2900 rpm. Difficult to consistently replicate - but there and noticed by service tech when I took him on a test drive.

After 2 days - they can't figure out what the issue is and thus now assume its the plugs. Although CPO warranty - because it is just past the 4 yr mark - stating it is a maintenance issue and thus I cover the costs. To some degree understandable - but on the other hand my understanding is that age really has nothing to do with spark plugs - and replaced after 15K on stock setup? Further if it turns out not to be the plugs - then I just did this for nothing at this time. Not sure if I just need to grin and bear it or if there are other options.

Any advice?

Just out of curiosity, how much is it to replace the plugs?

No errors on your current hesitation issues correct? Also try cleaning your MAF sensors.

But seems like either plugs or coils are starting to fail.

They're like $1600 at dealer. $45 DIY.

What are you running for fuel octane? Location??

Is your car at a Porsche dealer? Did you have them scan the ECU with a PIWIS 2 tester? This really is the first diagnostic procedure. They can run a battery of tests.. Between now and 20K should be your plug change.. Misfires should be recorded.

Did the hesitation show up around the time you installed the x-pipe exhaust?
