When I took delivery of my TT, the dealer mentioned this problem and I think they said it was due to the 4WD which made the fuel flow tweaked over the 4WD system to the two sides of the tank. This is a common problem for me. I usually end up manually filling with the hose at a 90 degree angle, which seems to work.

Kalifornia is in my experience about 99% fill your own these days.
