Deciding on the car - need opinions
Need some input from the current owners in the forum.
What would you pick? Just car for car. Don't worry about pricing.
Need to decide really soon. I would drive it about 3-5k a year. It will be a keeper for quite some time in the family.
Thanks!
2012 Turbo pdk 4k miles
OR
2011 Turbo S pdk 30k miles
Both have 2 year warangy left from Porsche.

Well the 30k car may have a ton of service done to it which is money in your pocket. Has a little more power. But if you're a car freak and like a garage queen maybe the 4k option is for you.

^^^ agree, if you're looking at late model 997.2 PDK might as well step up to 991 TT platform.
In the 997 platform The 997.1TT 6spd manual is the one to hunt IMO
Good luck

Same difference in price with a turbo just subtract 15k to both values.
Even used the 991 turbo s is selling for over 170k still. And those aren't highly optioned ones.
I'd love a 991 turbo s though. I think I'm one of the few who prefers the 991 in every way to the 997. Probably because I am new to porsche. The latest generation in all ranges is my first experience with the brand. But to the OP, if you are going to mod, I'd choose the turbo if it has the performance options. Otherwise the S.

The 991TT is definitely out of the budget. The cars above cost about ~$100k each that's why price wise they're about the same. Just trying to find out which one has a better long term value and more appealing down the road for resale just in case.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I recently purchased a 997.2 TS. I was also looking at the new 991 TS, but the delta between the two is ~79K. The smart choice is to get a car that is a few years old and let the 1st owner take the big depreciation hit. When I shopped around, the differences between a 2011 vs. a 2012 will be ~10k. To me, that is a wash. I would go with the 2012.
Since most folks that buy TS generally take care of and do not put many miles on it. You are likely to find that they are in fantastic shape. Of course, you have to take it to another dealer to have them do the inspection to validate. The dealer who did my inspection said the car is literally new.
Good luck!

you have a point
hi. actually that's a good point/scenario. if i drive both cars and add 30k miles in 5 years. will the lower mileage 30k regular 2012 turbo will be worth more than the higher 60k 2011 turbo S? hmmm. tough call i guess?

My opinion is to buy the car that is more desirable to you, because if it's desirable to you, it's likely to be desired by another enthusiast down the road. If you're buying it as an investment, the lower mileage car will probably be a better bet. But if your main focus is a car to enjoy from an enthusiasts driving standpoint, the TTS is the answer.
Guessing values years down the road is folly IMO, buy what will give you the most enjoyment throughout your ownership period, whatever that means to you.
