Default Looking for 997 Turbo because 997 GT3 not within the budget

That is very good information. I'm in the market for a 2007-2010 997 turbo.

Couple questions

Would it be better to buy a 2009 because of the low numbers ?

A car that is tuned by evolution with 750hp kit ... Does that decrease the value of the car or increase the value? Is it important to keep the car stock?

Great Ed - simply brilliant

Super curious about similar data for European MT coupes. Besides the intellectual curiousity, it's also highly relevant for these German Autos (transatlantic shipping costs are less than 3k these days)

Spectacular work! Great graphics but why do so few people own these cars in Maryland?

I actually saw a 2011 white Turbo S tonight with black wheels and a black hood. My friend who was with me thought it looked a bit odd with the black hood. I'm guessing is was carbon but how much weight does it really save?

EDEZ, We all owe you a big thanks for such great analysis. It's confirms that I'm really lucky to have my 09 white 6 speed coupe in my garage. It appears to be a relatively rare beast.

I just started analyzing the 2010 Turbo Coupe, and the preliminary data would suggest this model year is also of limited numbers (~300 cars and ~40 with MT). Without entering into the great Mezger (2007 - 2009) vs. DFI (2010-2013) engine debate, I like all 997 TTs. I wanted the last year of the Mezger engine and MT because of the racing history of the engine and I wanted to row through the gears myself.

For my driving needs, the 480 hp of the 2009 is more than adequate and I prefer out of the box stock setups. Even with 480 hp on tap, I tell my friends that jail time is only 10 seconds away at full throttle. The DFI cars have more power and the PDK is a much faster way to shift gears.

I have a friend in Switzerland with a 997 GT3 Club sport and I can tell you from a recent drive it is a VERY different car (beast) than the 997 TT. If you want a GT3, keep saving! There is something special about the growl of that Mezger engine in the GT3 above 7,000 rpm... If I were a guy routinely taking my Porsche to the track, the GT3 is the car to have hands down over the TT.

Happy shopping!

I agree, and as a US buyer the more favorable exchange rate had me at least considering the return of a 993 to its original market.

Fabulous work, thank you

I wonder why the big drop off in cars from 2007 into 2008/2009. And your early indications of 2010 similarly low... Do you think the Great Recession was it entirely? I was looking at oil prices over that time frame ( as we only get 10 mpg ), they spiked to $140/Bbl in 2008, but collapsed with stock market collapse in 2009, but perhaps folks were scared of high gasoline prices returning and spent their money on Tesla's? That's good for us now

I wonder how these numbers compare to the 930, 993 and 996 turbo runs... Wow, if we are even close to the 930 or 993 numbers, good times for us lie ahead. Well I am having too much fun with mine now, I don't think I will ever sell it, but it is fun to watch prices appreciate. I think the 997 turbo, with its performance and still a bit of raw edginess, will go down as the best turbo Porsche made

I believe the Great Recession played a large part of the reduced volume of cars sold, and even the folks who had money back then were holding onto their cash. Let's see how history classifies these cars in the future. Until then these 997 Turbos are a great value and a fun driving car!

Thanks for the info!! Any chance you could break down the colors to the specifics?

I'm wondering how many .1 MT coupes were GT silver!

And for that matter, how many .1 MT coupes with PCCB?
