Default CAN pdk over rev?

Asked to dealership. I asked for DMe overevs. He stated PDK you cannot overev. Curious of any of your opinions on this. Thx!

Don't quote me on this and I'm not willing to try, but I think if you put it in complete manual mode, you could over rev it.

Pretty sure on sport plus mode it won't over rev.

I heard tip and pdk could only over rev if the tires came off the ground and spun freely.

My dealer said the same thing on my 13 981 PDK; cannot over rev and no report necessary.

Yes, cars with PDK can get over revs on range 1 and 2 (rare).

Theoretically, dealers can NOT CPO a car with over revs 3 and above. Some dealers do it anyway to sell trade-ins.

I've heard that a dealer will CPO a car with range 4 over revs if a leak down test is performed.

There is no way to OverRev it under any driving conditions.

I have no direct experience but I was told it is possible to overrev a Tip or PDK. If one is driving the car in manual shift mode and driving the car down a steep enough grade gravity could cause the vehicle speed to increase to the point this would overspeed the engine.

Now I have driven a number of manual equipped cars on steep hills that even in a gear lower than top (4th in a 5-speed and 5th in a 6-speed) vehicle speed can increase even though my foot is off the gas pedal. Engine braking in the higher gears is not sufficient to keep the car's speed from increasing. While engine braking is more effective in lower gears if the grade is steep enough and one took the engine to red line on the grade...

I would always have the over revs counters read just to be sure. And you can see how many 1 and 2 (possibly) over revs the engine has had and when and you also get the engine run time.

Thx. Just done know why often there appears to be some resistance from some dealers to get the overev DMe report. I'm guessing many sales people do not completely understand how to interpret them.

Even if the wheel becomes airborne and you never lift the throttle the engine will not Over Rev been there and have done that.

The Rev limiter cuts in the PDK and Tip have had this feature for a very long time.
