Default Does this ever happen to you? Hood always popped open

This is kind've a stupid topic and not Turbo specific, but I just purchased a 997.1TT and I guess because of the way the remote/key is constructed, I always accidentally pop open the hood with the remote when I start the car up or lock the door.

I'm just a little curious to see if this happens often.

=)

It's been an issue on the 997.1 since introduced in 2005. Dealer can program a delay into key so accidental activation is minimized or you can open the key and trim some of the rubber away and accomplish much the same result. Search and you'll find lots of info on this. Here's some info:

You can buy a key housing with the button slightly recessed so this doesn't happen. I think they changed the design because of this problem.

We offer the SmartTop unit and RemoteKey products that add various programmable features, including a 3-second delay on the trunk button.

Turn the key with the key chain ring (if you have one of course).

Default key

It happens to me when my key is in my pocket - trunk pops all the time. However, this is not as bad as when I put my phone in my pocket - I end up calling Vladivostok!

Your pants are too tight Seriously, just get your dealer to program in a longer delay for the trunk button. This fix has been around for 5+ years.

Your holding the Key to tight it's a gentle touch and just use the edges I have never heard of this on any of my Porsches.

I had the same problem, replaced the buttons and some internals with the kit from Suncoast, all better now!

this happens all the time. I've just become neurotic about checking the doors and hood

To add on this topic. Does anyone have the OEM alarm? My horn only works every blue moon when i lock it... or unlock it. VERY ODD. Never consistent. Most of the time the doors just lock and lights flash.

Unfortunately 997 OEM alarm does not have a horn to indicate locking. You can buy an aftermarket device to add the functionality but the honk you hear sporadically is indicating a fault like door open, hood open, glove box open. From the manual:

Fault indication
A double horn signal during locking indicates a
defect in the central locking or alarm system.
