Things are getting serious
So i just wire transferred the full price of a prestine 2010 Porsche Turbo to the dealer. Since then i've been so nervous about the whole thing !!
- Car just stepped out of factory warranty, i did review the history of the car which is very pleasant, but car needs a few parts changed in order to buy an extend warranty for one more year. Mind you it would cost me USD 2k every year for the extended warranty.
They highlighted the following parts to be changed to qualify for the warranty extension:
- Strut support bearing left (1 unit)
- Strut support bearing right (1 unit)
- Ball bearing (2 unit)
- Shaft sealing ring (Differential leaking as per dealer)
- Battery replacment
- Transmission Oil
The 2nd owner bough the car at 15K Miles in 2012. Since then he managed to cover 8K Miles in 2 years. If that info makes any difference.
Car has 23k Miles on it. When i spoke to the previous owner he said that the dealer is trying to scam me as the car was in for service before a couple of month, less than 200 Miles ago. To fix and qualify for the extended warranty i will need to fix the above for USD 1.5K + USD 2K for the warranty itself for one year.
Is the extended warranty worth it at this stage ?

Don't know how it works in Canada, but when my OEM warranty was about to run out, I bought a 5 year Fidelity Platinum warranty for under $3K (was discounted heavily by my friendly dealer). It already paid for itself with the first warranty repair (water pump). Obviously it is a cost vs. benefit analysis, but there is a lot of peace of mind having the warranty in place.

would appreciate a referral to your dealer for the warranty.
TIA!

i don't think that's the right way of putting it....
he will actually be giving business to his dealer friend by referring...what's wrong with that?
that is why the request was for him to refer us...not to publicly divulge the dealer's contact info.
but if i were that dealer friend.....what would be better than free marketing...and to a very lucrative target market no less!
