Default Broken Spoiler? Electric Rams Beta Tester Needed

Hi, I've designed and made an electric kit that completely replaces the troublesome factory hydraulic system for the rear spoiler. Its pretty much plug and play - takes an hour to install. After beta testing, I plan to offer it globally to 996 and 997 TT owners, shops, etc. Failure is common on 996 turbos, soon the 997's will catch up. I am looking for someone with a 997 TT to work with on installation of an "eRam" kit. Please email me at djcooper@rennkit.com if you are interested.

I may have found someone. thanks to all who have read my post.
Question: Does the 997.2 turbo have the same hydraulic wing lift system as the 997.1 turbo?

The part numbers for the lift cylinders etc. appear to be the same for 997.1 and .2 . Note the Cabrio and coupe have different part numbers.

Good luck,
DC

Thanks DC - good to know. The first 996 TT beta tester is installing his kit as I write this - so far going well! Thanks to the couple of 997.1 TT guys that are interested in working with me!

Dave, Have you re-invented the Formula 1 DRS type system for TT? The Turbo wing flaps UP within a few milliseconds under braking? This would once and for all end the GT2/3 versus TT debate!!

Or are these slow moving stepper motors as Porsche engineers had envisioned?

now that would be cool! These are slower moving like the standard hydraulics.

Still looking for anyone out there that would like to work with me on an interesting solution. I am almost done with 996 beta testing! Dave. djcooper@rennkit.com

We finally have the first 997 Turbo eRam kit being installed! As suspected, there are some minor differences, but only in the method the factory used to fasten the ram to the wing. Not a tough one to adapt. We have 13 kits installed on 996 turbos, no real problems thus far.
Question: Any suggestions on where I can pick up 12V power in the engine bay for a small electric module that fools the dash warning?

Bit of a setback. Seems the 996T and 997T original hydraulic sets are slightly different. I had sent a kit to Denver for install, but the shop really didn't want to work out the bugs, and the owner wanted his car back on the road after being off the road for months to get the coolant pipes welded. So...now a kind owner from OK has stepped up to remove his hydraulics and take the needed measurements so I can tweak a kit. Lots of interest from 997T owners that are now starting to lose the hydraulic system that raises the wing.

The main bolt on prototype parts are done. Just need to get them test fit. Finally making progress on this. Two owners have stepped up to test the system on their cars.

Awesome that you're working on this. If I had bought my 997.1 earlier this year I would of been happy to beta test since I am located in the same Metro area.
Unfortunately I am still awaiting delivery since its in transit/central dispatch and I don't have a known delivery date yet.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Certainly looks like it - a couple of rams and hydraulic pipes with banjo connections on the bottom of each ram. So, certainly not electric. Goodness knows why it is hydraulic not electric...

WOW! Another model to go after??? THANK YOU PORSCHE! 41,000 996 Turbo's out there, not sure how many 997 Turbos, and now the 991 as well? I'll be pretty busy.

Can't wait to install the first 997 Turbo set. that should happen in November.

While we test fit the new 997 Turbo eRam kit, you can have a look at my website for all manner of info on the broken failed spoiler scenario; www.rennkit.com
Once the test fit is done, I'll be soliciting 6 beta testers to try the kit out. For that there will be a special discount, with install feedback and pictures as my requirement for beta testing.

Dave, Good to see you made progress on the 997 solution. The repair on the hydraulics on my car are still working, but I am looking to you to come up with the permanent repair. Let me know if you need anything.
