Default car insurance for turbo S

Can someone give me some names for how I can insure this car? I'm going to drive it probably 10k miles a year and my previous company nationwide won't do 911's. I called hagerty and since I am driving it 10k miles they won't insure it.

So how are you guys insuring these cars?

Try:

State Farm
All State

Pleasure car? Or work/school too?

Lots of happy Porsche owners use USAA with the proper credentials.

The latter. I'm on the phone with all state now. I just hope they don't screw me on price. Can't do USAA. Don't you have to have been in the military to use it?

I have been with with state farm for a long time. And the agent makes all the difference...
PS: they don't know the difference between TT, GT2, or GT2RS. They all show up the same saving me on the 2 derivatives.

So all state says because I was using a company car for one year and not my own insurance, this shows a lapse in coverage so they won't give me insurance. Jacka$$es....... I called nationwide again, my local agent apparently now says they do cover the 911. My rate is 600 bucks per 6 months. Pretty damn good deal. I'm satisfied with that.

That's a good rate. I have a 2012 TT with State Farm and that's almost exactly what I pay. As a current customer all they asked for was the year, VIN# and if it was a Turbo.

Allstate

I am not surprised by what you found with Nationwide...we had been wiith them for years and slowly the servcie and pricing started to get unacceptable so I stared looking around and so far happy with Allstate.

If you are current or former military, USAA is the best. If not, and you have a good driving record, Amica is almost as good. They all go downhill from there.

I found the same. Both are superior.

I was with Safeco for a very long time, last June their renewal rates went through the ceiling, insane increases - annual increase of maybe ~$2k on my TT and my wife's Cayenne S (although they had pretty cheap coverage on my 356). My independent agent (30 year close friend and client) found a local/regional carrier who actually came in slightly below what I had been paying.

Simply put, you need to shop around and independent agents that represent many carriers are worth their weight in gold. Shop around. Carriers change their ratings and can go sideways but there are usually good alternatives.

Also, keep in mind price isn't everything. Some carriers with lower rates will try to rape you if you make a claim. Also (more important with commercial policies), there are many different coverages and those who assume its all the same and shop just by price may have big surprises when it comes time to make a claim.

Try your local State Farm agent--have had all my P-cars insured with them. If you have another car, and possibly your home, they have great rates in So Cal

I only pay $700 a year for my 2007 with a $75k agreed to policy. I guess the Midwest is cheap!
