TPC's magic PASM controller (DSC)
#31
I installed one last night.
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-turb...uspention.html
EDITED,... after driving it a bit more tonight.
In mode 1. (steady light,... like the way PASM is when it's on),... the ride is about as soft as stock with the PASM off,.... and with nearly all of the float gone,... and no noticeable jiggle from the inside rear wheel when going around choppy corners. This is about how I expected the car to be from the factory.
In mode 2. (light blinks twice, pause,.. then blinks twice again, etc (Might need to put some black tape on that)),.... the ride quality is nearly as firm as PASM on,.. but better over bumps, and with more control. Also,.. all the float is gone.
Didn't get a chance yet to try mode 3. much. Just for a moment,.. but the road was pretty smooth. Didn't notice any harshness in the 30 sec I had it on. In mode 3, it blinks three times,.. pause and repeat. (again,.. may need some black tape).
If you're in the Detroit area,.. you're welcome to take a test drive.

in mode 1, i find the ride perfect even on our 3rd world honolulu streets- it's very comfortable ride without the float & less front end dip on braking.
When i drive wifes 07 Boxster S -no PASM- the ride on her car is much stiffer & you can feel the road more than on my TT in mode 1.
my previous car was 02 996C2- put on the porsche X-74 suspension & ride was stiff but not jarring. TT ride with DSC is much better on street.

What bgrpph said! No black tape necessary.

ok, installed this sucker this morning.
1. The light, which I thought would be annoying, is not.
2. So far I've only done fairly standard street driving in modes 1 through 3. And I don't get the fuss...at all. I can't say I feel much of any difference. Mode 2 is softer that the standard sport mode, but seems to offer no benefit over mode 1. Mode 3 feels similar to standard sport mode.
3. You can tell me all day about the dampening effects, but real world, so far, I'm not sure I'd pay $100 for this, much less $1,200.
4. Ride in mode 1 is the same as far as I can tell.

I'm going to give it a few more days and will try to do some more aggressive driving before deciding.
I guess based on everyone raving about this thing, I figured it would be life changing.

I never tried it on a stock suspension, but with lowering springs and sways it improved the ride tremendously.

And on a side note, I wish I could have had a DSC-equipped Porsche during my half a year in NZ! What a beautiful country with so many great roads to drive on! Driving around the Coromandel was definitely one of the highlights.

Anyone in Denver or wouldn't mind shipping for rental purposes? Days of inquire are the 16th to the 22nd?
I'll pay for shipments! PM me.
I really would like to see the difference at the track prior to purchasing it.

Im sure someone else will have this question...
Confirmed with TPC that the box is the same for both the 997.1 and 997.2 turbo models. Includes S and GT2. The cardboard box might have a .1 or .2 sticker but it doesnt matter.
There are also yellow and white dsc boxes. The yellow was just and earlier hardware run and their supplier switched to white. They are the same. That being said if you have a yellow box it might have older software. Hopefully the user upgrade software comes out soon and everyone will get on the same stuff. But yellow or white all still work on turbos.
