Front plate on your car?
#18
I got front plate holder very high quality from Mower Axle. It is a tow hook type and looks ok and is quick to take off if want to take it off but dont' usually bother. Hopefully some day we will get rid of this front plate rule like other places have. Fortunately neither my 911 turbo or my SL55 have ever had holes drilled I the front bumper.

the worse part is not just only will there be holes... but on my car they had to put 4 FN holes in the bumper. La has no front plate law so i went home and put 4 stainless steel bolts in there. my buddy offered to paint my front bumper but i was worried about how that would effect the resell.

I have a hotrod (in my avatar) with no front plate, but I opted to add one to my TT. In some locales in So Cal, like Santa Monica, meter maids will cite you for no front plate. I've gotten a no plate ticket while leaving my car in short term parking at LAX! I couldn't bring myself to drill the bumper so I opted for a U S Mill Works tow hook bracket;http://usmillworks.com/porsche_front..._tow_hook.html
It is a really well engineered and executed bracket. I can't believe that I get so many inspections and positive comments on the bracket. I don't like it, but given that it's well made it helps some.

I have a tow hook bracket although I don't like it, but in SoCal just too many risks of ticketing. A while back I ordered a center mount bracket that mounts under the center air duct, but haven't gotten around to installing it and don't remember where I got it, but I think it will look better than the offset tow hook look.

Does this count as a front plate? I don't think my car has had a front plate in 40 years. I do
worry though, because it has the original 6-digit blue/yellow on the rear. So, if cited, I will have to get new plates.

There's a sliver lining if you ever get busted Mike. Calif is going to reproduce black, yellow and blue plates. They are currently taking orders and if they get sufficient quantities of each they'll start making the plates in Jan 15 (I've been told they have reached their boggy). The plates have a one time charge of $50. I may be slightly crazy but I ordered a set of black plates for my turbo.

^^^ Yeah, but to get the same 6-digits, I'll have to order it as a custom plate, which is another $75 every year (and sure to increase over time). But you are right, at least I will have an option.
I think the "new" reissued plates will somewhat dilute out the "value" (not monetary, just cool to collectors) of original blue, yellow, black plates.

Thanks to the search feature I just found this thread. YEAH! I'm getting my car in a week or 2 and HAVE TO HAVE a front plate where I live. I got 2 tix in 1 day here in the DC area by not having one. Guess I'll be getting one of these plate brackets. Not sure which one yet... but I will be getting one. In DC when you park on the street, you can can a ticket ($70) just for not having a front plate. Then, on the way back to Maryland they can pull you over for no front plate, and they do...

You guys in the States have it easy with just a simple low fine each time you get stopped - if you get stopped !!
Try that here in UK and you will be stopped within 10 mins of driving out - $100 fine plus 3 points on your licence - rack up 12 points and say good bye to your licence for 12 months !! You would lose your licence here in under a week !!

A guy on the 993 recommended this plate bracket instead of the US Mill Works one....
Thoughts?

If you drive through the tunnels in NYS/NYC you will be pulled over, I was twice. I currently use the tow hook mount, works great. The us mill wk one is virtually identical to the rennline unit, dealers choice!
