Default SpeedTech 997.2TT X-Pipe

Pictured below is another 997.2TT X-Pipe we just produced for a customer in natural finish, getting packaged for shipment. It's 100% T304 stainless steel and hand crafted/produced in the USA by SpeedTech.

This is a great modification to improve the sound of the 997.2TT and it happens to be very economical, as well. If interested in improving the sound of your 997.2TT, please contact us for special Rennlist Member pricing...

What's the cost? How's the install/fittment with the OE cats and exhaust cutouts on the rear bumper?

Perfect fit - It was designed with OEM cats on the car...and to use the OEM tips. I will PM the Rennlist member special price.

We make an awesome X-Pipe system for the 997.1TT and it sounds phenomenal! Here is a picture of a catless race version. It's available with our HJS catalytic converters in quiet or loud sound levels , as well...

Sure wish you had a good video of one installed on a 997.2 Turbo.

Hook me up with a killer deal and I'll make a GOOD video for you once mine is installed.

John,
I'm not trying to insult at all, so don't take it that way, but in most of your advertising you focus on sound. (And they do sound nice!). I haven't seen a lot of power information.

Have you done much in the way of dyno testing of your systems to see what power gains there are? As I continue to research exhausts for my car, I'm really interested in power and no drone. My days of hanging ten on my car roof to hear the exhaust ended in college

Hi Scott,

No insult taken :-) - all is good and that's a fair question. Most customers are much more concerned with sound than power and I understand why. For instance, a system that makes a lot of power, but drones and otherwise sounds horrible is only desirable to a few select individuals. Customers hate a poor sounding system and are routinely contacting us to solve their sound issues or mistakes in system choice based on sound/drone. We have concentrated on providing the best sound for that reason.

That does not mean we ignore power improvement in our designs. Many of our systems have been dynoed and the ones that have been tested have faired very well. For instance our 996TT X-Pipe system makes approx. 42 AWHP over the stock 996TT system on a modified car and about 25-30HP on a stock car. Same for the 997.1TT.

As for a 997.2 X-Pipe center muffler delete, based on my experience, without upgraded cats, that is mainly a sound modification. I would expect a few HP based on the straight through unrestrictive flow, but the big restriction on the 997.2TT is the OEM cats. We do offer hi-flow cats for the 997.2TT and have road tested them during system design, but the owner of our test car did not want his car dynoed, so we were not able to record any data. The car ran great after the cats and X-Pipe were installed - it was obviously a lot faster and pulled much stronger with a much crisper throttle response. Unfortunately, we were not able to record the results to share. Hopefully, someone will dyno this system in the future and contact us with the results. I am extremely confident that our full 997.2TT system with HJS cats would dyno very well...vs. the OEM exhaust.

Phillipj,

Thanks, the sound is just as amazing with cats, just not quite as loud, but close enough to give you the same joy...This is truly a phenomenal sounding system. The experience of driving the car with this system fitted on it is beyond words fantastic! I have the same 997TT 3.0 X-Pipe system with cats on my 996TT - this will give you a great idea of the catted version...

That is sick. I love it.. Unfortunately no cats for me in Cali is a problem..The penalty is too great if you get caught. I would have to go with the catted version. Thanks John. I will be in touch. if by chance a used catted version comes up for sale let me know. For a 997-1..

phillip,

The catted version sounds just as good - even from a distance, like in the video. It's a very exotic sounding system that competes with the Italians for sound quality :-)

We hardly ever have used systems on this model - the one we had recently was a fluke - the customer totalled his car before he could install it, but that is extremely rare...
