TranzIt BLU HF Install in a 997.1TT - PCM 2.1

As I recall, I initially put the Tranzit BLU directly behind the CDR24, but was having to force things a bit to get the radio back in. I think I then dropped the Trannzt BLU down into the area behind the heater/AC controls. Maybe that area is less shielded? My install was in a 2007 Cayman with the base (not Bose!) audio system.

thanks for the info guys. I finally go around to installing mine last night. easy setup. I was able to install the mic in the factory spot and it works great. two torx screws underneath the steering column opens it up easily.

I thought I read that someone wrote the sound pickup in the standard location wasn't so hot so I didn't even try that.

I have enjoyed mine... 2 flaws already pointed out are the background noise (don't care much in a convertible) and the quiet volume. I am on android operating system so my best workaround was to use poweramp (though I'm playing my own mp3s off my phone) and turn up the gain on this player. It has a "preamp" feature but I maxed out the replay gain in the volume leveling and found this more convenient. I also set it to just start playing with a bluetooth connect on poweramp, which works for me but not everybody's application.
I couldn't find a universal gain for the entire phone's bluetooth volume, but if anybody has found such a thing let me know.

I don't get it. WHY would ANYONE do this, vs. Dension or Mobridge which totally ties into the OEM Phone function?

Cost, and the fact that the Dension and Mobridge do encounter the odd issue every now and then.
That said, the Dension I installed in my car has been working perfectly for ages now.
