Exactly where I got mine! The guy stood by the meter waiting for it to expire, while I finished my double latte across the street.

I was going to chime in about this but Runner beat me too it. The law has not had a fine attached to it in Texas for 2 years. They "left or forgot" verbage that associated a fine to go along with the offense so the police stopped writing tickets in most of the state.
The weekend of the F1 race, DPS wanted to flex their muscle, and so they were pulling people over in case they could find other offenses.
I dont have plates on my 997 or Panamera and would not have put them on my cars as the fines would not stick in any court. I am just glad they finally put this thing to rest in Texas.
Dont drive your car until September and you should be good to go if you are worried..

Thanks for that update. Considering the legislature is in its 3rd special session and this bill has been languishing since March, I doubt very much it will get out of committee this year - maybe next session (2015). Guess I need to keep my tow hook plate.

This is my solution until something happens to the law. A "J" bolt on each side that hooks to the grill. Very clean and no damage.

I like Goldstar's solution with the zip ties, but I REALLY like Runner's method! I live in Ohio and the State Police are real uptight about plates. Having my front plate secured with holes drilled in the middle of it is kinda like giving them the finger..

UPDATE - effective September 1 Texas did change the front plate law. You still are required to have two plates front and rear but now failure to do so is a misdemeanor with possible fine of up to $200. Prior to this it was a warning with no fine. Maybe next session (2015) the "one plate" bill will make it out of committee.
