Default Source for Exhaust Fabrication Parts?

Due to my inability to stomach the Porsche tax, I'm seriously considering building my own exhaust system. It should be pretty straight forward but the only hangup is I'm not sure where to source the flange that bolts to the turbo. In the attached picture it is the flat plate right next to the O2 sensor bung. Anyone have any recommendations on where to find those flanges? Other than those, the rest of the system is comprised of off the shelf exhaust parts. $3800 for a system comprised of $500 in parts seems a little excessive to me. Thanks.

You could remove the flanges from your stock system. Call fabspeed, they may be able to sell you some parts.

There is nothing like being able to fab your own stuff!

What material are you going to use? Mild steel, stainless, or Titanium? Do you have the set up for Ti?

Is this the same K16? I'm not familiar with the KKK K16 turbo, but then again I'm not well versed in the stock turbo on the 997.1 TT. Is the turbo the same between the 996 and 997.1, or at least the discharge? Thanks.

It will be SS if i go ahead and build it. I sold my Lincoln 255, but I'm pretty sure I can find a welder to use. Ti would be my first choice, but that would be a PITA, and not worth the weight savings.

SS is easy...but it is heavy...the project can be a lot of fun!
Go wild - weld Ti! you can probably build a second/third/fourth business out of this venture!

So, just a thought. I know Agency Shower makes a cat/muffler delete that is a straight pipe from the turbo to the tips. Obviously this would be hellaciously loud. I'm wondering if the noise/drone would be tolerable with a 6-10" muffler between the turbo and the tips instead of a straight pipe. Magnaflow makes a 6" long x 6" round muffler with 3" inlet/discharge. It appears to be the same muffler that Protomotive uses in their x-pipe system. I'm just wondering if ditching the x-pipe and going straight to the tip would be tolerable. I think I could fit as long as a 10" and maybe a 12" muffler between the turbo and the tips.

This is the Magnaflow that I believe Protomotive uses.

the ones from 034 are for the 996 turbo, not the 997 turbo. I'm close by to them and i have stopped and taken a look.

If you are gonna do your own custom Stainless exhaust system, then you can buy all the bits and pieces from Speedway Engineering and cut and weld your own system to your own desire. You can get ID up to 3":
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/

They are usually cheaper than anything from pcar suppliers (respectfully)...

For ALL my "other" brand cars (pro-touring/race cars) I have always bought here and fab'd including the headers...you can make some sexy looking low restriction stuff...
