Would you buy this 997TT? Please help!!!
I saw a 2007 911 Turbo with a hair over 55k miles; dealer was asking 64900 without CPO. After some debate and a quick test drive we agreed on a price of 65k WITH a CPO. The dealer requested I give him a minimum deposit of 1000 dollars which I agreed to (charged on my VISA card). I asked the dealer for a copy of the DME report as I had done some research on buying the 997TT on here and many of you guys reccomended it. Today I my loan was approved and I was all set to pickup the Porsche minus 1 thing. That damn DME report! I texted my sales men back and forth all day nagging him for it and around 4pm he finally replied back to me with a message saying "good news there is no engine damage" I will post screen shots of our conversation. Bad news is the car has over revs, I am really confused on what to do at this point. I have always wanted this car and worked really hard the last 12 years to make this happen so I really don't wanna pull the trigger on the wrong car. I am attaching screen shots of the DME and the conversation I had with the dealer.
Advise please?

What are the total operating hours of the engine?
Gotta love this: "... the motor blows up you might have some issues... But in that case my service manager can look the other way if I ask him to".
Classic example of everything a car salesman says is intended to get you to buy the car as soon as possible and pay as much for the car as possible.
I'm no DME over rev expert but the number of range 1 over revs and the smaller number of higher range over revs says to me you should walk away from this car.
The car has been tracked or chipped (which in some cases raises the rev limiter) or both and well, I'd just walk away.
Unless the salesman was willing to put in writing what he told you.... If he does, let me know ASAP so I can head underground cause pigs are flying.

Agree wth Nick and Ray... If you are willing to buy a higher mile TT there are LOTS to choose from. The dealer sounds like another typical scumbag.
If you are going to pay 65 k for a TT then use a little more patience and walk from this one. It already sounds like a problem child..There are many cars out there!

Gas Doc, Even though there may not be anything wrong with this car, I tend to agree with these guys...if you can wait a bit, you will find a car without any over-rev or at least no 5/6 and maybe even no 4's. Where are you located? There are clean cars everywhere...

Get it in writing that possible engine problems will be fixed under CPO despite overrevs. And have them include a leak down and compression test.

Here we go...my car has revs in 1 thru 5 ranges. Look up my old posts, they were put on by someone at my old mechanics shop...I was livid pissed because I know when it comes time to sell there will be people that walk. That said my car has no issues and runs super strong. If it bothers you don't buy it but if it runs strong and has no issues you are safe.

How are you getting a CPO certification on a 2007 car? When was the in-service date on the car?
Mine is one of the last built 2007 cars with an in-service date of 8/1/07 because it was custom ordered. And the CPO warranty expires on 8/1/13.
So even if you did get CPO it would last only a few months at the most...

^I am pretty sure that a Porsche dealer can CPO any Porsche that is less than (9? or 8? years old). The CPO is 2 years long and it is independent of the original warranty...I don't think that you have to have any of the original warranty left to get the CPO warranty...

Update:
Thanks for your replies guys. So I spoke to the manager and he actually gave me in writing that they will take care of any issues that come up even if Porsche denies my claims in the future do to any past over revs. They sound like stand up guys. Yes, it is true that I can wait for a garage queen but theres only a handful of CPOd manual turbos for sale within a 500 mile radius. I really wanted the service and piece of mind that comes with the CPO.
I ended up buying the car and on my drive home I was all smiles; what a machine!
