Question AWD steering feel,

one thing while owning the TT i noticed was the steering feel was completely different than the RWD 911's owned in the past... the steering feels very light and the only word i can think of is "spongey"...

i'm curious if this is because of the different geometry on the front suspension because of everything turned to fit the axles thru the middle... or if they change the steering box setup for the AWD models?

i have always heard people say "the AWD models drive differently" but never knew it would be such a difference.. it almost feels like the feeling you get from the servo steering in the 991's... very light steering feel.

Agree. My previous 911s were both instant and positive feed back, even though the 993 was power steering.

When properly aligned, the steering should feel tight.

it's aligned very well. same people that aligned both 997 and 991.. but the overall steering just feels very different than RWD models owned... much lighter.. both stock and modified.

Mine feels tight. Very different from my C2S. It feels heavier, more planted, more 'go-cart' like. Point and go. How are your tires?

The steering in the TT feels heavy and nice to me... I have not driven a RWD 911. My other car has electrically boosted power steering and it is way lighter and has no feel at all.

had 2 diff sets, 2500 miles used oem tires... and now from new some nittos... same tires i had on the 997's... they have >1k so they dont have mold release anymore..

same tires, same size wheels as my 997.2 and just a totally different feel.. my porsche shop said it's the front end geometry.. just wasn't sure if to blame the AWD susp differences or the fact those wheels have power going to them.

What is your suspension set up. Are you riding on stock or do you have coilovers, arms , etc?
