Agree, not an exotic. But not a sports car ? That is news to me.
A 911 is the ultimate sports cars for many and you say it is not.

Btw, are you secretly lusting after a 997 turbo ? Following in Ilko's steps ?
If so, good move ! I sold my 993S a while ago and couldn't be happier with my 997 turbo.

For sure you would lively up this section

Yes RRM it is a Shelby GT 500 Mustang.....it is a 2011 model unfortunately not a late 60"s model. I will say it has been a fun car. The performance is really great from like 20 mph to 75 mph. Very hard to get the rear end to hook up for quick 0-60 times.

Great to hear all the unwanted attention concerns. I bought my 997 to fill a life long dream of driving and owning Porsche. Little did I realize there are many who despise my ownership. I am one who does not like attention, but will continue to drive my dream and enjoy the gesture of thumbs "UP" and be remorseful to those flying the "Bird". Loving the ownership and driving the roads of northern Michigan.

Relocate to Newport Beach, CA. No one there will even give you a look in a old 997 Turbo. Go there and check on the ongoing parade of car ****. I saw several brand new McLarens rolling around a week ago. This brand new $300K McLaren Cab. was parked on some side street as if it was nothing.
+1... LOL I live in Southern California. No one looks twice at Porsches. You should move down. 997's are like camrys.

In my opinion, a 911, especially versions from the 964 on are Grand Touring vehicles. Some argue anything after the 550 is a GT car.

It may perform better than some sports cars, but imho, its still a grand tourer.

what?? people actually give you the bird for having a Porsche?? that's seriously low brow and I'm sorry for that......
I can't honestly say it has been a lifelong dream for me, but it is fun to drive!
I have been a big fan of Jaguar's; up until they're latest design......blah!!!! LOL.....guess that's why I have a pair of Benz

as far as the attention: it is a bother, but sometimes I do get those genuine people I can feel like I can spot that.......but being waved to just because I'm driving my Porsche kind of bothers me in a superficial kind of way.....

LOL, it's often said there are more 911's in southern Cali than in Stuttgart. I now believe this is true.

You can call it whatever you want but I love the power and the way it handles.

Yup, in New England you get alot of yahoos riding your rear bumper on the highway. I just drift into the slow lane and let them pass. Oh well

I don't like the attention at all, so I run a 35% tint on my car.
It gives me "some" privacy but I don't like the tint at night and specially night time and rainy...

Mr. Me TOO!! I have a large collection of "kill shots"... Where I get a nice picture of my side mirror showing the intake-spoiler and "insert car" trailing. Ah!!! Gotta have fun.

The best story since I've been behind the wheel for the last 14 yrs of imo awesome cars. Early 2000's near my college stomping grounds of LSU. A girl riding in a truck gave such a "O face" while I was in my C5 Vette next to them at a red-light . The boyfriend did not enjoy her reaction one bit... my roommate and I later joked that we caused a domestic violence with the Targa top off..

Had a few haters along the way, but that's there job.. to hate- wtf else do you think a hater is going to do? (Kat Williams)
