You're guessing on the wrong side of the Rockies - these pictures were taken in Calgary.
If I lived in Vancouver then I don't think I'd need to put the car away for the winter. We do get warm temperatures at times here in the winter so the roads can be dry but I'm more worried about all the salt, sand, rock and gravel put on them to help with winter driving until the spring street sweeping cleans the roads off.

It is an amazing sunset with a gorgeous TT in it as well!
I find that with a white car that it is difficult to get decent shots in bright daylight without blowing out the whites so the shade or evening pictures often turn out better in terms of that aspect but with a bit more noise in the picture.
