Finally back...
No other reason for the post than that I have been overseas since June and just got back and pulled the turbo out for a blast out to Bastrop and fell in love all over again. Sigh.

Started looking into this a bit further today. According to SCSage, of the 31 black manual transmission coupes delivered to N America for the 2012 model year, only one had the white gauge cluster, so that's my car. One had a red cluster, and the other 29 presumably had black. (Six had red seat belts, and four of those had deviated, presumably red ?, stitching like mine; only mine had red seat belts and a carbon fiber steering wheel.) I'm tempted to switch to red gauges, even though there's another one out there somewhere, and I'd be changing the only white one, because I'm keeping the car anyway, and it only really matters what I want to look at when behind the wheel. But I am a little concerned about the lack of contrast between the needles and the background, since the needles are orange.
It's not a cheap change (looks like $1150 for the parts plus the labor to do the cluster and the chrono), though that doesn't deter me; but it does make me wonder that somebody spent an extra $1360 in 2012 money to change the black cluster to white from the factory.

If it's one of the 19 basalt black manual coupes, looks like there were only two with white gauges, and yours is the only one with sand beige interior. Thanks for adding another data point. I would love to see a photo of your car, if you have one that shows the basalt paint; it must be a lovely car! Are you happy with the white cluster?

I hear what you're saying, for sure. But with so few .2 turbos delivered to N. America, it's pretty easy to have a one of one. Mine will still be the only one with red seat belts and a carbon fiber steering wheel, even if I change the white cluster. My main hesitation is the contrast, or lack thereof, between the orange needles and the red gauge backgrounds. Still mulling it over...

Here are a couple of photos from the recent Werks Reunion West in Monterey, CA. The basalt black metallic color is interesting as it adds some depth to the paint work and can vary in shade from a brownish color to a purplish tone depending on the sun and weather conditions. I was looking for a contrasting interior color when I bought my car so its good to know that there is only one sand beige car. Yes, I like the white gauges and I didn't know that they were a rare option.
2012's are special so congrats on your car - we have similar taste! I've only seen a couple of 2013's on the internet.
For the 88 2012 coupes (6 speed) have you posted all the color combinations someplace? How many PTS cars?
Thanks,
