Wow, I didn't know your car is not home yet! Maybe you should come up to get it yourself and drive down to Tampa! I bet that would be a fun way to get to know it. I have to say I'm a bit jealous at those who travel to pick up their cars. I only crossed the East River.

But to answer your question, it wasn't the TTT, but after 3 years with my 993 and getting to know it so well inside and out I wanted a new challenge and adventure. And what's better than the last Mezger engined turbo?!

Got mine in December, but had my old blue one since new in '07, sold it, missed it, had to have another.
I've had a 930s, 993tt, 996c4s, 997.2tts, and 2 997.1tt cars. The 997.1tt is my favorite!

i have traveled with many cars, 3 911's and 2 Cayenne from Ohio to Florida (stopping in NC)... and loving those mountains especially "Fancy Gap" area.... amazing roads and great speed limits (55mph in spots and can barely go 45 in a sports car!) then did an exige from MA to FL, and the Ariel Atom from VA to FL (in the winter!)...

but with the TT, 3500 miles would really stress me out, especially given the long desolate area's along the way... if it was a brand new car I would but a used 07, I would rather have a full "nut and bolt" prior to doing a 3500 mile stint...

i agree on the mezger

i like the fact you enjoy 997.1TT over 997.2TTs, makes me feel like i made a great choice.. i've had .1 and .2 carrera, and 991 but i felt i had to go manual and mezger,i hope the vehicle is strong and healthy and i hope to enjoy it for a year if not more (which is crazy to my usual)... it's honestly the best DD i could ever think of.

Did you sell the flat nose 930 ? If so why ?

I think one of the reasons you see lots of new 997 turbo mezger's on rennlist is because many realize what a great car it is and what an icon it will become.
But this flow of new members/owners started already last year I believe.
Some have been active posters when they just got it and after a while they just lurk. Last spring/summer we had a lot of new owners joining the 997 turbo forum.

August 2012. I agree on its' status with the Mezger setting it apart. It's a great enigine and a great car. Love it. Lots here in Vancouver, many of them cabs. If you can only have one car, this is the one.

I got mine last month. Came from Cayman S, then the 997 Targa 4S and finally to the 997.1 TT.

Loving every minute of it! o O( I think that's a song.....)

I traded my 991 C2S for a 997.2TTS about three weeks ago. Made the right choice for me!

Oh, with the hurricane my practice was shut down for almost 3 months, needed to raise a little capital, kinda sucked actually.

Mid-January for me! Picked her up in Atlanta and drove to Oklahoma. I previously had a 996 X50. The X50 was a great car, but I really enjoy the 997 and appreciate the upgrade. If current 991T speculation proves true, she may well prove to be a classic.
