Default Fabspeed Performance Upgrades on a 2012 Turbo S

Fabspeed offers a 'performance package' for the 997 Turbo S with and without an ECU upgrade.

W/o the ECU, the package consists of Maxflo mufflers, sport headers, High-perf. intake, and sport catalytic converters. Cost is around $7500, dyno shows purported HP gains = 20, TQ gains = 54.

With the ECU upgrade, cost jumps about $3K; dyno shows purported HP gains about 70, TQ gains about the same.

Weight savings around 15-20lbs.

Anyone install either of these Fabspeed packages? Noticeable difference? Might be attracted to the package w/o the ECU upgrade, thus keeping the 'S' stock engine management system in place.

Stay away from fabspeed (BADSPEED) or Power agency.... there is better things out there for less or maybe a littler more but fabspeed it's a wasted of money...

I had the air intake, i used for 1 week and i sold it for $400 (after i paid $850 plus shipping) now i have the exhaust and i'm trying to sale it for whatever i can get....

My experience with them is bad i think they make their products in China and the quality is not very good, especially for a 997 TT

The Air intake is bad because the car is getting a lot of HOT air and that's a big deal.... so i went back to the stock box with BMC filter.

The Exhaust is not too bad but not the best one out there... and it's not cheap at all... you can get a Europipe for $4800 or a Tubi for $4300

I have Softronic and i'm really happy with the results

The ECU on a Turbo S from talks with others and my understanding is pretty much modded as it is. Depending on the amount of mod's you do beyond just exhaust then you could tweak it but keep in mind you can kiss the cars drive train warranty good bye.

Interesting. I wonder if the tune is made in china too?

edit. Wow! I didn't realize you are talking $10,500.00!!!!! Bit like walking in there wearing your Saville Row suit and then hobbling out with a very sore backside wearing only your undies dangling around your ankles. That's totally unbelievable!! I wonder if there have been any victims yet? 10.5K? You can't be serious? This is definitely a joke right? Maybe the 15-20lbs weight savings they speak of are in your wallet and clothing?

True, the 997 tts ecu is a whole different bitch. I would not touch it with a ten foot pole. In fact I wouldn't even do an exhaust.
Even with an exhaust, the Siemens ecu senses the reduced back pressure and will actually pull timing. It's clear they are concerned about stress on the 9a1 and pdk drivetrain.

If I could come close to using the 530 hp I have now, I might consider an ecu flash.

The S is one of the fastest cars out there..stock.. Although I would be tempted to make the car sound better I wouldn't flash it either. Remember that if something were to happen to the engine you would be left holding the bag. And that bag is about $40k with labor..

Dont be tempted by the aftermarket "evil mistress" I have slept with her a few times and regretted it..

Hi, PM sent with more information about the upgrades for your car. We have some great products for your car that are Tested and proven to make power and a nice sound improvement. With the full performance package with ECU software, you can pick up an additional 100HP at the wheels without hurting the engine or any other components on the car. We offer one of the most powerful 70mm exhaust systems for the Turbo which is why we work with the biggest Turbo tuners in the world for Porsche cars.

But we do sometimes recommend looking into a more aggressive and durable clutch upgrade when doing certain upgrades along with the bolt on exhaust. Let me know if you have any questions and what you decide to do. I will be glad to talk to you more about the options for your car and offer you a great member discount.

Our current GT3RS and GT2RS project was just completed with amazing results and I will post more information about that soon.
