Turbo Question
with DFI in 2010 (aka the 997.2) the car also got PDK over TIP and the front axle could be "disconnected" by 1 click of the parking brake on the PDK model.
the 09+ had option for ventilated seats, the AC system is changed and all the controls in black instead of "volcano grey".. the PCM is touch screen instead of buttons.. their is no longer a box in the frunk for the nav... the TPMS system is self aware and can swap between sensors with ease versus needing programming. other misc panels changed or adapted..
in 09 the N/a carrera's got suspension updates, i'm not sure when this happened on the turbo's but i would assume 10 with the engine/trans update..
it's hard to remember everything at this moment but i went from 997.1 to 997.2 and the update was surely noticeable and appreciated..
2007-2008 turbo's seem to go from 65-80k... have seen CPO 08's for 70-75.. tiptronic seems to fetch less than manual, and cabriolets less than coupes.
2009 turbo's i have seen from 75-90k, have seen cars with factory warranty for 75k...(should have bought it)... but most are above that.
2010+ turbo's are generally 90-110+, have seen a few high mile cars for less, negotiating on a PDK cabriolet right now (2011)..
the 09 being a "half year".. it has a higher value than previous models but not as high as the newer DFI vehicles.
again i am not a "turbo expert" i have owned naturally aspirated versions of both 997 variants and currently looking for a turbo so speaking based on that knowledge.

I don't want to spend any more than $85k for the car and I'd prefer to get something in the $75k range. The car needs to serve 2 modes;
- Family truckster and daily driver
- Weekend and track toy
What else do I need to know about the Turbo's?

Buy the one in the best condition you could afford. To me the differences between model years was not a deciding factor in purchasing the car. Condition, color, options, paperwork, and warranty were. There are several freshly certified 2007 turbos on the market right now, that have good options. Check those out.
Whichever car you decide to purchase look at the following:
1) DME scan for over revs
2) Clutch Slave Cylinder
3) Rear Spoiler Hydraulics
Obviously if the car is certified none of these would be an issue.
I'm sure others will chime in with more info but in general the 997.1 turbos have proven to be very reliable cars. At least that was the impression I got in my research.
Have fun!

How does the Sports Chrono system function? I read there is an "overboost" function as part of it, how does that work. Does the Turbo use the dynamic engine mounts like the GT3?
