Default 5 bolt wheels on 911 turbo s?

I've been looking at a couple turbo S's. I found one but it has the normal 5 lug turbo wheels. I thought all Turbo S's came with CL? How hard would it be to convert to CL? Everything else on the car says turbo S so I believe the S wasn't just an "add on"

Thanks

I love the look of the CL. I was either going to get the Champion or HREs

The car was likely coverted to 5 lug becuase the CL's have been known to failure, they've also had several recalls. Do a search on the forum/google.

CL is a PIA,I learned to live with it.
Most failures are due to operator not binding to porsche's strict instructions of toruquing the wheel, I would strongly steer away from a conversion even if you like the looks, Also most tire shops will not touch CL wheels.

CL are not what they are cracked up to be. Plus I also heard the CL nut is a one time use item.

I did the conversion to CL. I appreciate the technology, lighter weight and the fact they look cool. Not sure why they are a PIA though. They do require different tools to take off and to torque back on by I've not had any problems or issues doing so. Porsche realized the initial TQ specs were too low and have upped them. The problems I've heard of were operator install error.

The TTS comes stock with CL wheels and the 5 bolt on wheels are available as an option. I have the CL's and love them. I have not any problems with them. However, when it comes time to take them off and put them back on it is quite involved and requires a lot more effort and tools. The way I look at it is if I get a flat I'll call for a flatbed whether I have the CL's or bolt-ons because there is no spare tire. I keep a tire repair/plug kit in the car along with the factory provided air pump which I'll use to get me to the nearest Porsche dealer or experienced indie shop. I wouldn't let just any tire repair shop change them. IMO the CL's look much better than the bolt-ons to the point where I wouldn't buy without them.

CL's are not " one time use". Page 210 of the manual explains process of removing wheel. Keep in mind Porsche issued a bulletin increasing torque requirement to 444 lb.ft.

What did you do with your 5 lug hubs and wheels? Selling them?

Excellent question. The conversion was done at the dealership as a condition of purchase. They kept them. (I probably should have requested the parts although that may have been priced in the discounted overall price.)

My 997.2 GT3 has the CLs. That's why I searched long and hard to find a 991 turbo S with the 5-bolt wheels when I made that buy decision!

The TT-S was available in both CL and 5 lug.
I have found a few 5 lug TTS in my travels and love them.

Those who do a lot of track time in the RS world rather 5 lugs all day long. Some with the CL have converted to 5 lugs for ease of use and for constant tire/brake changes at the track.

I would rather 5 lug on a TTS all day long 100%

I cant believe some actually swap it for CL!

In fairness, those with a CL TTS are usually not doing their own tire changes and not swapping wheels or brake pads every weekend at the track so the novelty of the CL system is kinda cool in retrospect.
