Understanding this DME report?
As some of you may already be aware from my numerous posts within this particular forum, I am on the hunt for a 997TT. The following DME report was sent to me re: a car I am interested in however, I do not understand what I should be looking for? Can someone kindly point out to me whether or not this is a report I should be pleased with? What questions would you ask if this report was presented to you? Would you buy the car if it come with this DME report?
Any other feedback or information anyone can provide is greatly appreciated! Here is the report:

The DME should also give you the current number of engine hours as that's pretty relevant to the equation too?
1900 engine hours probably means the car has around 50,000 miles. It's quite possible some one might have recently taken it out on a test drive and mis-shifted thus causing all those over revs.
Over all the DME looks fine

The car I am looking at has 59K miles - could this be an older report? Is this a car you would consider given this report? Does it raise any red flags that I should be worried about?

As a rule of thumb many believe that the cut off is type 1 to 3... There are cars that have zero's fron 2 to 6.. I personally wrote off cars that had anything in the 4 to 6. If you have any number in the Type 6 range the car has suffered a mechanical miss shift. This engine could be hitting 9500 RPM and greater.. Set your limits and stick with it before the salesman hands you the keys.

07, you mentioned that you read the posted links. What questions do you have?
With the recorded Number 4 overRevs.. Your crankshaft could have turned up to 7900Rpm's.. Realistically a brief 7500..

I capped the cars at Type 3 overRevs... I would not purchase this car...
With that said, the two cars at 2 Porsche dealerships had Type 6 OverRevs.. I passed on both of those cars.. Interesting they are still sitting on the lots... You can compare your report to the report that I posted in your other thread.
There are plenty of cars out there, and yes it will add more time in your quest.
Feel free to call me.

Thanks for chiming in. I was referring to the questions I had listed in my original post within this thread:
I do not understand what I should be looking for? Can someone kindly point out to me whether or not this is a report I should be pleased with? What questions would you ask if this report was presented to you? Would you buy the car if it come with this DME report?

Yes ask them for the total engine hours? There has to be atleast 50 engine hours after the last over rev 4 to make sure every thing is fine

Do a leak down and compression test for peace of mind if you decide its the right car for you. In my search for a car, I ran across several forum members who had overrevs in 4 and even some in 5 and thousands of miles later they have not had any problems with their cars.
Much appreciated!
