WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE.
we always recommend professional install this is a walk through for the D.I.Y 'er.
Some led tail lights trigger an error code or warning light on your dash. LEDs do no have the same resistance as regular bulbs. Resistors in series will eliminate those issues so no warning check engine lights come on the dash. We use two resistors in series to reduce the amount of heat that they generate, make sure to tap onto the signal wires only. We always recommend soldering your connections but the the do it yourself, t-taps will work fine. Make sure they are tight and snug when plugging them in.

What about the PCM funtionality that allows users with Sports Chrono to use the PCM to set individual memory items for things like DRL, etc. How do you access that with the Alpine or can you?

THe sport chrono allow the car to over boost for 10 seconds. when the "sport mode" is pressed on the dash below the AC it activates this mode. It is not a PCM but an ECM feature. We have tested it on several turbo's and the sport is defiantly a reason why the TT are monsters.

As long as you preset the DRL before you unplug the radio the car will remember these items.

The only thing lost is storing lap times but to be honest when you are on the track your going wreck trying to record lap times. great idea by not real world practical unless you recording your daily commute and the Alpine has a built int trip computer.

excerpt on sport chrono from WIKIPEDIA

The optional Sport Chrono package allows the 911 Turbo to overboost for ten seconds, increasing peak torque over a narrow RPM range.
According to official Porsche figures, the 997 Turbo accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds with the manual transmission, and 3.7 seconds with the Tiptronic S transmission. It also recorded a 60 mph (97 km/h) time of 3.2 seconds when tested by Motor Trend, eclipsing all of its major competitors and even Porsche's own Carrera GT supercar. The 997 Turbo has an official top speed of 318 km/h (198 mph), though Jeremy Clarkson achieved an indicated speed of 322 km/h (200 mph) during his 2008 video special.

My question had nothing to do with Sport Chrono and over boost - it had to do with using the PCM to program certain features that without Sport Chron the dealer would have to program such as DRL's. You answered my question - the new head unit doesn't have this programming feature.

Default 997 PCM Upgrade Porsche Nav Tv HUR-997 with Steering Wheel Controls

Allows the retention of the factory BOSE Amplifier and speakers when adding an aftermarket radio to 911, Boxster and Cayman vehicles

Not compatible with 2005 911 Turbo / 996 Chassis with Black faced radio.

The MOST-HUR/997 provides audio integration into the stock amplified sound system, allowing the end-user to replace their factory radio with an aftermarket Navigation/DVD head unit, while retaining the factory amplifier and speakers. Installation is easy, with only 5 wires connected to the vehicle, an included antenna adapter and a MOST fiber optic extension. The MOST-HUR/997 supplies accessory power, illumination, VSS (vehicle speed pulse), foot brake, parking brake signals and infrared steering wheel commands to Kenwood or Alpine (only) aftermarket radios.

Note: If the vehicle does not have the Bose audio system, the speaker connections will need to be hardwired to the factory harness from the original radio. Also, the subwoofer in some vehicles uses a secondary amplifier, which also needs to be directly connected to the aftermarket radio.

A high-quality Double-DIN dash installation kit in either Black or Silver is also available, and is highly recommended for a professional looking install.

With a large 7" WVGA screen, My Favorites screen, easy sound setup, navigation and built-in Bluetooth® wireless technology, the INE-W927HD offers fast access to your favorite entertainment and information sources, and has several new features that can be tailored to you and your vehicle.

The Alpine INE-W927HD has everything you need through its 7-inch WVGA touch-screen monitor: A customizable My Favorites screen, built-in HD Radio tuner, Bluetooth® wireless technology and 3D Navigation. Plus you get Pandora and SiriusXM compatibility. All this amazing technology at your fingertips and it comes in the easiest to use AVN unit on the market.
