Default Increased Octane

Does anyone know the "effect" higher octane has on a stock '07tt? And where does one find it in Austin or central Texas?...rrm

I don't know about the "effect" but I use 93 octane gas from Shell.

Exxon & Valero are 91 octane

I saw an immediate improvement when I moved from CA - 91 octane lawn mower gas for your TT - to NC 93 octane.

I have tried 1/2 to 3/4 tank of 100 with an even bigger pop, but cheaper in the very long run to get a Europipe.

If you are running 93 octane there will be no noticeable improvement going to a higher octane gasoline, unless if you are tracking the car.

In this case filling the tank with 100 octane adds some extra margin against detonation under track situations.

If you are using something less than 93 octane, say 91 octane, and are not living at say 6K or 7K or higher elevation based on my experience with my 03 Turbo when running 93 instead of 91 for a few days in driving across I-80, you will notice the engine a bit more responsive, the engine becoming a bit more perky, and fuel mileage improving too, provided the added perkiness of the engine doesn't have you driving a the car with more, well, spirit.

In my experience the effect was quite nice and on top of that the price of this transforming 93 octane gasoline was considerably less than I had been paying for CA 91 octane gas just 1K miles away in CA and made me hate CA 91 octane gasoline even more, if that is possible.

I always use 93. Last summer, I burnt a boat-load of 100 octane at about a 50% mix. Wanted to see if I could feel a difference. Figured my effective octane was always about +96-97 octane. I did NOT notice any different on my weekend sprints through country roads. No track work, here.

I dislike this thread... just reminds me of our crappy CA 91 gas, and when you find some 93 in a remote desolate location it's $6.50+ a gallon.

mark my words CA will be the first state to completely outlaw petrol in 2030 and we'll all be driving electric cars here. BTW what kind of aftermarket exhausts do they make for electric cars

100 octane racing gas here.. Only makes a difference if you have the coresponding ECU tune. $8.99 a gallon.. Major horspower increase with the tune.. I buy this once in awhile. Otherwise I run the crappy Cali 91 with an octane booster..

Fuels and lubricants are located on the third or fourth level of the underground turbo silo?
