The thing I love about rental cars...
Just returned from a great 10 day business / pleasure trip to the large island of Hawaii. Loved it. But every time I rent a car, this time from Hertz, I realize just HOW great my TT is. I rented a Chevy Equinox - a mid sized 5-seater SUV and OMG - what a piece of crap! Absolutely gutless, super wobbly suspension, and almost no brakes. Incredible. We all laughed ourselves silly when I'd go to pass and punch it and the engine would wind out with high revs but with just a tiny increase in power. Hilarious!
But the only thing I love about these rentals is that when I come home, and sit in my TT, smell the leather and crank it up, I realize just HOW lucky I am to own this beautiful car. Driving crappy rentals gives a great perspective. I highly recommend it if you fall out of love with your P-car. Go and rent a car for a day and you'll get your perspective back.

Former Vendor
Somehow, some way, this reminds me of years ago when a race team put McDonald's trays under the rear wheels of a front wheel drive Toyota van and went for a ride :-)

Had a loaner for two weeks, it was an '13 S4. Dealer let me keep it for fun, lovely daily driver, anyways it made me question the need for a TT.... Then I picked up my car.... I have no more questions.

Remember this: Fastest car? Rental.
Most expensive car to fix even for minor body/paint damage? Rental.
I treat my rental cars like I treat my Turbo. Like a Turbo. Carefully.

Rented a 2013 Corevette from Hertz in early Dec. Now I'm a Corvette guy (Z06, ZR1) and thought it would be fun. Hated it! It was: too low, too big, too heavy, difficult to get into and out of, marginally comfortable, cheap (interior, seats etc.) and not at all what I though it would be given the "hype" that surrounds these cars. Got back into my TT, what a car, there is no comparison!
I hope the new C7 displayed today improves the line because it needs a complete refresh.

Had a Corvette for 3 months and got rid of it.
No bonding with the car at all, just too big, too wide and bulky.
And don't get me started about the crappy interior, horrible seats etc.
I feel so "at one" with my Porsche.

My company does plumbing, I have 6 masters licenses and I still don't want one. So there goes your theory.
