Default depreciation curve?

Does anybody have a good reference for typical depreciation curves for p-cars, particularly the turbos? I'm just trying to crunch the numbers if I decide to trade in or trade up some day from a 997.1tt. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My research says 10% for the first 3 years, 5-7% after that depending on miles.

A friend could have bought an '07 with 5000 miles for $85,000 back in 2010 and 2 years later, a similar car with similar mileage is still going for mid 80's

Hope that helps

This is Canadian pricing. I leased my 08 997.1TT. Price is $95k (3 weeks ago) and Porsche leasing has projected it to be $55k in 4 years.

Forgot to mention that the previous owner paid $190k +tax 4 years ago and only drove it 18K kms.

My research shows average depreciation in the following range. Each percentage decrease is from MSRP:
  • Year 1 20%
  • Year 2 14%
  • Year 3 10%
  • Year 4 7%

The above are just average numbers and are based on an average of 10k miles per year. Lower/higher mileage will have +/- impacts. Also, some of the higher optioned cars will likely have higher depreciation. In addition, the economy, not just the US but rest of the world has impact as well, especially since higher new car inventory means greater discounts on new ones and softer prices for used ones.

Great!
And what if you also drive it, and I do not mean 50 miles a year?

Turbo loses 50% the first three years. Same goes for GT2s and GT3s.
Then it keeps steadily losing value as you drive it, and also depending on how it is optioned and what it looks like (color choice).

So a 2010 GT3 should be worth, say 65K? I don't know if you can buy a '07 for that.

Depreciation values can often depend on owner's maintenance record and # repairs. An if one owner. A well maintained, accident free 2007 can still bring in $80K in the 30-40K mile range.
