Removing rear wing

That still isn't working for me. I love the ducktail on the Carrera (that cement color limited edition 997 is outstanding) but for some reason it looks strange on the turbo... Especially with the OEM turbo wheels..
I think you're right Nick.. If you did the bumper cover too it might really put it all together..In fact that could be very cool... Dont know about aerodynamics though....

Removing the wing from a 911turbo? Lol. Ok, now that's beyond funny guys. Enough already! Is it possible this is perhaps just an ambit thread? I recall this same crazy thread put up somewhere else by same Poster. I think it was it on 6? Hmmm.
I mean the rear wing on a 911 Turbo is a hallmark signature feature of the model and is part of the aerodynamics. And, it looks great!
If this thread is for real, I guess there are some things I will never understand.....

There are 911's that don't have wings, but all the fast ones need them....so some things cant be helped.
Whether they look better with or without is debatable....
I'll take mine "with", thanks.

Yes. There are 911s without wings but i was lamenting you can't have a Mezger block without one. All modern 911s are fast. Heck Carrera S is nearly as fast as a 996tt.

Yep had a C2S, was better balanced around the track than the 996tt, especially through the turns but up the straight the 996tt would walk the 997C2S every time. So my take is it's the getting there faster that makes the down force necessary. I recall the nose would get light under power especially at speed in comparison the the turbo. Dem wings do make a difference Taking it off a turbo would not be wise.

I disagree. At certain angles I believe the 'naked' 997 looks like a cough drop that's been sucked too long. it's just rather bulbous. But with a nice small wing to break up the eye trail it visually enhances the wider rear of the car - especially the TT's and C4S's. My 2 cents. Each to their own' right?

Any news?
Hello hota_troll,
Hope all is well. it's been a while since you posted here. I personally also prefer the wingless look of the 997.
Did you manage to conclude the removal of the turbo wing in the end?
Grateful for an update.
Cheers!
P.s. the reservations are easy to resolve: stick to 190mph (C2S tops speed) and avoid stretching all the way to 194mph (Turbo top speed)

the wing itself is physically part of the deck lid. Removing the deck lid / wing assembly is straight forward, but the question is what to replace it with. Will the standard 911 deck lid assembly fit and function properly on the Turbo?

Well, it's not for me, but at least it's better than the tacky *** wings most other swaps entail
