For those that own both or have had reasonable amount of seat time in both how would you compare/contrast the cars?
Thank you in advance...

997tt is a better car in every non cosmetic way...I noticed it as soon as i drove it when i traded my 993tt just a few months ago...I loved my 993tt...i love my 997tt...i would like both but...
Cosmetics is personal choice...the 993 is much more cosy on the interior...much more basic and much more old school.
That said im glad with my decision and glad I now have the 997 tt. Good luck with your choice.

I have owned my 993 TT almost 10 years. I did every mods that one can do to it. But I drove the 997TT Cab last month I just had to traded in. The 997TT is just rock solid fast and capable. There are so many upgraded safety features in it to make you and your family safe. I personally think it looks just as good or even better than my old 993TT. Especially the interiors.

So i am the only romantic that has the 997 and lusts after the 993...
This is an eye opener considering they are almost even trade or the 993 is marginally more in Greece...
Thanks for the comments guys.

Furthermore Porsche did the 997 a huge favor by making the 991.(and no, not because the 991 is bad, just so different)
In time the 997 (especially the GT3/2 and turbos) will become iconic and loved in the same manner the 993 is today.
I used to own a 993S so can't compare turbo power. But I have no regret whatsoever selling to 993 so I could get (back) in to a 997 turbo.
Good luck with your decision. I know it's not easy but rest assured you'll love the 997 tt.

I agree, the 993 is a very good looking Porsche but if you take romance and nostalgia out of the equation I believe the 997 design is much more coherent.

The cult following of 993 made its ownership that much more tantalizing. But hard to deny that Porsche had indeed successfully replaced the 993 with the 997 design. We truly get the best of everything as far as looks, performance and safety and most all of the price.

In the interim, the best solution would be to have one of each !

997tt is a higher performance car in every measure. Having said that I have had a 991s for almost a year and I think it is superior to my 997TT. Time marches on.

The other matter of interest to me that you've brought up is whether it'll be worth waiting for the 991TT iteration vs buying a 7.1/7.2TT next spring in light of your comments on your 991s.

I think we can only hope about desirability or popularity as you call it.
Maybe, just maybe, not in 15 years that it took the 993 to reach this status, it could take 30 for enough 997tt s to have disappeared from the mkt for it to come back...
God help me to keep and enjoy my car for that long, and perhaps I won't care by then!!!

Re stable resale values , the 997tt/1 will (like its GT3/2 sisters) become a sought after car and therefor will be likely to keep value.
But like Nick said, too many around to move to 993TT territory but who cares about that?
Many more people will be able to afford a 997TT/1 because of it and this fact alone will be also contributing to stable prices, albeit at a lower level.
If I can make a wild guess a 997tt/1 will be worth 70 to 80% compared to a similar condition 993TT.
Although I suspect the '09 will be much closer in value in years to come.

I would love to have a 993TT as a weekend fun car to take to cars/coffee events. The 997TT is obviously a much more refined ride, faster, more creature comforts, etc......As far as 911's go, I am in the camp that less is more. A 993TT is the type of car even someone like me (who flips in and out of cars every year) I would keep for a long long time.
I know some do but I just could not DD my 997TT and there is no way in hell I would DD a 993TT. Now if I had any plans whatsoever of tracking the car a few times a year, I'd go 997TT.
At the end of the day, I think I would prefer the 993TT if it was something I am only going to put less than 5k miles on per year. Simple, beautiful and nostalgic.

That's a sick M3.. Is that Rahals team car? BTW I Dialy drive my 997 TT. It's really not a big deal. And I only put 6k miles on it per year.. No stop and go driving. My work is ten minutes from my home. So would rather drive my TT for those 10 minutes than another car.. The only downside is that I have to wipe it down twice a day..

I have a 997 TT and although no 993 TT but I do have a 964 Turbo.
I can say this though, If i have to sell one of the two, it would have to be the 997 TT![Embarrassment](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/redface.gif)
Taking the 997 TT out is like a normal daily driver, it's refined, smooth, linear power and pretty easy to drive.
On the other hand, taking the 964 Turbo out is an entirely different experience. It's loud, bare minimal interior, is rough and is an explosive to drive that brings a big grin from ear to ear every time I take it out.
Let me tell you a little story:
Took the kids 9/10 to school the other day and there was a 5th grader who opened up the door to get the daughter out from the front seat. She later told me, the kid was telling his friends that her Dad drives a Porsche.
To check the kid out, I drove my White 997 TT the following day and the same kid happened to be there. He didn't get to open the door but he he did see the car.
Asked daughter later in the day if the kid mentioned anything about the white TT and she said nope So go figure
