Very good point but I think only 7000 997.1 Turbos (2007-2009) with the GT1 engine were manufactured for North America

check out this TSB notice for 2007-2009 turbos:
http://www.awe-tuning.com/media/pdf/...e%20action.pdf

I'm pretty sure it's a TSB for all 997.1 turbos in North America (confirmed with my service advisor during my recent PPI that all 07-09 turbos had this serviced when they come in) and it notes that 7051 cars were affected.

So in 5 years time for folks hunting for a GT1 derived engine in a clean relatively low mileage 997.1 TT it may be slim pickings as others have stated

I agree Art,
2007 was a decent year for TT sales, 2008 not so good and 2009 was bad.
All in all not too many have been sold and further more that does not matter if enough people hold on to what they got.
In the end it's not what is produced that dictates resale price but its what's on the market.
Also realize most are in the hands (leased) of people who just 'use' a car for what it is meant to do and they are not worried about scratches, repaint, well taken care of leather, etc, etc.
And if you deduct all of those there wont be that many 'nice clean cars' for enthusiasts to cherish!

No accident or paint history. Car is in fantastic condition. Trade offers have been $65-66K which is the direction I will go if it doesn't sell in the next few days.
I would take that trade offer. A friend of mine with a 997 with similar miles got a lot lower trade offer than that(in the mid 50's.).

IMO opinion 997 turbo prices seem to be falling. All the cars with low miles seem to be not selling in the mid to high 70's.

But I'm still struggling with the 40K mile car for $66K, it seems a little too good to be true.

to the OP, I bought my 07 TT from a 3rd party 2 weeks ago and had it inspected (PPI) at Rector. Their service department is pretty good from what I could tell, if you want a straight answer from them call the service department and ask to speak with George Demar. Ask him about the car you're interested in and be straight up with him, I'd tell him that the price seems a little too good and you are a serious buyer but want to know the condition of the car inside and out.

My guess is that it is priced to sell and has some cosmetic issues, eg worn interior like leather seats, possible too many rock chips on hood. If it has no issues then you are getting a great deal with similar cars selling for about $70K

let us know what you learn
Art
@aa909 thanks for the info. I'll be sure to give George a call.

I don't expect the vehicle to be in flawless condition if it's selling at a perceived discount. I just want to 1) make sure there are no mechanical issues 2) I'm aware of any wear and tear on the vehicle.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

@amerlemans You have a beauty on your hands. I've been following the vehicle since you listed it for sale. I considered taking it off your hands but I'm very partial to black, blue, or white.

There are new cars introduced to the forum almost every week now. These cars have all been bought you know. (for $75-80 and more)
And what is seen here is most likely only a small percentage of actual sales.

I am going to give it through the weekend. Have two guys that seem very interested. If it doesn't go by Monday, then I will take one of the now three trade offers at $65-66K.

Thanks....no worries. If you are spending this kind of money, you should not "settle" on just any color if your heart is set on something else. Best of luck to you on your search.

That may be but I'm going by what I have seen on eBay and Autotrader.

No prob Dan !
For sure some cars are not moving but please be assured these cars are still selling. Some, of course, take longer than others and for sure some are overpriced. The problem is usually the 'beaters' start off at the price of the 'gems'. Everybody likes to think they have a great, perfect car. Unfortunately most aren't.

Hard to say what will become collectable.. The 997 TT is an amazing car. Far more amazing than a Carrera.. Porsche can make a 200 mph 991 Turbo rocketship and the 997 TT will still be an amazing car. I have had 4 Porsches, 3 BMW's and two MBZ's. The 997 TT is by far the best car I have ever had.. I think we get too caught up in values..

Hold your hand up if you think your 997 TT was worth the money! See... I told you...

Hand's up PhillipJ. These 997 TT's are definatey a good notch above the standard Carrera. No question. And for the price of a 200 mph car? There is no substitute. If you haven't seen it, check out this link.

It is definatey the best car I have owned. Amazing. It gets better and better the more I drive it.
