Old Blue; The Cloning

Congratulations Chris with your forensic investigations tracking your old car down. Shame to hear its final destiny was not favourable. Anyway i'm inclined to agree with Ed in his conclusion.
You've already been there done that with the TTS and found the PDK wasn't a sufficiently intersting experience....to be expected. Just being fast does not necessarily keep one interested for long. I recall a near new 08 997tt being spoken about on a recent thread here. That one may interest you. It was black black with the right options excepting the sycamor....which could be changed out. I think with 991tt not too far away now, ponying up for another new TTS even at a super price may wind you up lamenting that decision in the not too distant future. As they say..."buy in haste...repent at your own leasure".
To me a spend of 100K max would be the better option at this stage. Enjoy the manual, mod the car to your liking and then shake it if you feel the need when the 991tt comes out. That pill will be a whole lot smaller than eating the TT$S if and when you decide to get out of it. GL.

Chris, I think you want a driver's car. You won't be satisfied unless you feel the notchy shift from 1-2 in your right hand, and hear the uninterrupted revs of perfect downshifting. It sounds like you were amazed at what technology could accomplish with PDK, but are still longing to do it yourself with your right wrist and left foot.
Unless you thinking about going NA, consider a 997 GT2. It's gentle enough for daily driving, will save you the trouble of having to tune the suspension (and deal with Damptronic failures, swapping springs, etc.) and will leave you entertained every drive.

Apart from the badging, is a TTS worth the extra cash? Just wondering because I love my 07 TT and don't really like the automatic medium PDK or whatever they come out with. You guys I am sure have seen the videos on the new 991 TT? I don't know it's kind of like an extension of the 997 TT style. Apart from the rear lights and funny looking quasi duck tail, don't see it yet.

You can always get a new TT (not TTS) so you can get a 6 speed manual or track down an 09 in close to your old car.

[QUOTE=TT Surgeon;9644882]As many of you know I've been trying to track down and buy back my old 2007 997tt.
I actually traced it to it's new owner in Florida, rather his 17yo son, who has successfully trashed the car in 2 months, wrecked, blown engine and turbo. A true waste of machinery.

That's a crime shame.
These cars should be EARNED not bought by some daddy for his moronic 17yo spoiled brat for a son.

TT,
Sorry to hear about your '07. I don't post much, but I've followed this and other boards for a while now. You don't know me from Adam, but I'm putting in my vote for an '09 6 speed. There are some very nice, low-mileage examples out there waiting for new owners who fully appreciate them.
On my soapbox now. I don't trust direct injection. It is not clear to me that any manufacturer has solved the inherent intake valve fouling issue. If anyone can, it's Porsche, but we don't have enough evidence at this point, so I would be going with an '09, even if money were no issue.
I own a couple of relatively new vehicles, and they, as well as my '07TT, have good 'ol port injection. (One of them even has push rods, not that I have anything against overhead cams.) No HPFP's to worry about, and the intake vavles get a nice dousing of detergent every time I mash the go pedal.
A GT2 would also be nice.
Good Luck,
LP
