Default Old Blue; The Cloning

As many of you know I've been trying to track down and buy back my old 2007 997tt.
I actually traced it to it's new owner in Florida, rather his 17yo son, who has successfully trashed the car in 2 months, wrecked, blown engine and turbo. A true waste of machinery.
I am contemplating ordering a new tts in dk blue as it's replacement.
Yes, I had a black 2011 tts, but I found the black n white interior too much, and was bored with the pdk. I have since come around on the pdk as a DD, I can live with it I think.
Why not wait for the 991ttt?? The 991 styling does nothing for me, I like all the extras in an S package, plus I'm getting a $$izable discount.
Thoughts....

Yes, I have followed your escapades over the years
From what I've read you'll dislike the next PDK as much as the first. It'll quickly become a 'throw away toy' again and you'll yet again move on to the next thing.
I understand what you are saying about the 991. Although it is a great looking car the back is far from what used to be '911'.

You liked your '07 and if you could you'd get it back, if this is true than I would hunt for the perfect '09. Now that is a great car !! The only reason I would sell my perfect (to me) '08 is to buy the '09. Not much difference but so very desirable. And what a great platform to tune, to enjoy, to cherish.

IMO of course.

My schedule has changed since last yr, my DD no longer starts at 6, rather 7am now, big difference in traffic....hence warming up to a pdk.
Of course, obamacare may nix everything.

You made up your mind
Hope you'll enjoy it like your '07.
It's a great car for sure but no '09 manual.

Similar situation - I too have had seller's remorse. I sold my 07 997 TT, 6 speed and regretted it soon after...so I found an almost identical 08 997 TT and recently I've considered getting a 12 TTS...but then I remember how much I liked my 07 and how much I like my 08 and how much I like the MT so I've resisted. I might consider an identical 09 TT or a GT2 but it would really have to be a great deal for me to sell my current car.

TT Surgeon,

That is a tragic story about your old 07 TT.. What a waste.. Why you would give a 17 year old boy a TT is beyond me.. That is just plain stupid..

I hope you find a great car...

Hey Doc sorry to hear about your old car too...
Oh well. What a perfect reason to move forward. Although the 09 seems like the emotional choice, the TTS seems like the logical one. And convenient for that matter! Enjoy. And keep us posted with pics!

still thinking
The allure of my old car a was that it was the one (first brand new turbo) I ordered and specced from the factory, hence it would have to be replaced with the same.

Don't do it, Chris. I warned you the first time around....Find a pristine '09 6 speed.

Could it be that the true allure of your car was a combination of things ?
Your spec is one thing but do not forget how truly satisfying the feeling is to have that mythical engine in the back controlled by a manual 6 speed.
I know I am crazy and maybe alone on this but I enjoy seeing that familiar engine shape when looking under the back of my car. I have been seeing it since my first Porsche back in '86 and to me it is part of a 911.
I am sure in 10 years or so I'll get used to the DFI lump but for the time being I am enjoying what I have to the fullest.
