Aftermarket Wheels
I am searching for a set of wheels for my 997.1 cab...for street driving only.
I have seen people with 20" and 19". So apart from a harsher ride what are the advantages of 20" ?
or should I stay 19"
Any input is appreciated as well as leads.

Harsher ride, more chance of bending rims, more unsprung weight. But some prefer the look of the 20"s.
I personally stick with 19"s, I actually went from 20"s to 19"s, but I am sorting my ride for handling.
Good luck, whichever way you go.

well physics dictate that the smaller profile has to have better handling...
In any case, the best argument for staying with the 19s is that with no lowering springs, the 20's look a bit strange imho...
Having said that, 20 is the only size I would go with lip. 19s look too small with lips, so they need to be either flat or concave.
All these decisions are pivotal to pictures you see on the net. There are thousands... Look at as many pics as you can... and if when the right one clicks, then chose size... (contingent to weight).
Here is my favorite...

Depending on the spoke pattern, some 20's draw attention away from the wheel and make the rotors look really small.

997 TT has a similar body style as a 964T/993TT and the only wheels that looked good on those cars were with the step lips.
Once you see step wheels on a 997 T, you will never go for a straight spoke design.
Besides the un sprung weight, you will also have very limited choice in tires too.
Hope that helps.
On a side note,I still haven't found a wheel, stepped or non stepped, that would excite me.

Agree 20's have more minuses than pluses....but do look nice in certain rim designs. All the expert advice i've ever received was to stay 19" and away from 20's and get over the vanity.
I guess you've got to decide whether you want a show pony or a performance tool.
For track 18's are even better again...if you can stand the look.

I don't think the 19's look bad at all. The 20" does eliminate all gap, but it purely comes down to preference.
I'm still a fan of chrome & the big lip on the rear wheels, others go with the concave in flat black. Each to his own, so buy what makes you happy

20s with lip,is my vote. Plenty out there that weigh less than stock.

Car is dropped, they are 20s. They are MB1's and they copy the P40s I guess, but the rear is nicely concave in the middle which I love, and the front is flat.
