Default Can 997.2 PCM be retrofitted to 997.1?

Hi,
I just picked up a 2007 Turbo, and I'm wondering if the newer 997.2 PCM can be retrofitted into the same place as the old 997.1 PCM? Could I retrofit it and get the full functionality of the 997.2 unit? Would I also need to retro fit the 997.2 gauge cluster or anything else? I suspect the PCM space is the same size, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks,
LP

Been told no twice by the service manager and salesman at my old dealer in CA.

I would pay good money for this.

I would ask Ryan at Suncoast. They seem to be pretty knowledgeable about factory upgrades.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for the response. I'll ask my local dealer too and report if they say different.

I notice you're in Chapel Hill. I'm down in Charlotte. I plan to attend some Porsche events--though I don't know much about them yet--so maybe I'll meet you sometime. Mine is 2007 Guards Red / Natural Brown. I'm a fan of the Ruby Red also.

Lots of knowledgeable people here and on other forums and I've never heard of anyone that has been able to make this conversion (and I know there has been a lot of interest).

LP, if the Charlotte events are anything like the Houston PCA events. You will have a great time. I know we have drives, socials (happy hours and coffees), driving schools, concours, and races. I can do a Porsche function almost every weekend. Not a lot of wives attend but mine does and she has a great time too.
I have made a lot of new friends thanks to my Porsche!!

Thanks for the info. I wonder if a third-party vendor--perhaps Suncoast--could design an option for us 997.1 owners--either based on the 997.2 system or not. It sounds like there may be significant interest, so there may be money to be made.
