Default 1/4 Mile Runs Today! 997.1TT Video in and out!

So, this was my first time in this car at the drag strip. I've drag raced many times in my GTO and have gone as fast as 9.1 at 150 and hold my NHRA license good down to 7.50s.

I drove the car to the track and got 24.5mpg there. Just unloaded the cooler and my mom and daughter and lined her up.

The biggest thing is getting use to launching AWD with a 6 speed.

My 2nd timed run out I left at 5.5K and chattered the tires a little (1st run was a 4K bog) and cut a 1.77 60ft and went 11.57 at 122.8mph. Not bad for a street tire and rusty 6 speeder!

The car is basically stock, power wise, as it has paper air filter, factory tune, ect. The only thing is a Fabspeed Version 3 exhaust which is their quietest one. It had 3/4 tank of 93 Shell as well.

Watch both videos in 720 or 1080HD FULL SCREEN

Here is a video my mom took. Not the smoothest but you get the point!

Outside view. Ran a 2013 Stang GT, auto, bolt-on, tuned car. Ran mid to high 12s. He red lighted on this run:

In this video you will see me pull over 1.5G on the launch and at 1:30 is when the track personnel tells me if I go any faster I will have to get roll bars installed! LOL.

2 camera in-car view:

Nice one Doc.

Looks like you dropped the clutch at 6000? Much wheelspin from that?

Doc,
Nice run and great camera setup too.
Did they give you an 1/8th mile time too?

Blipped to 6K but settled to 5500 just before I knee jerked the clutch out. The tires just chattered a little bit.

Seen where you were talking of close to where it would need a cage if faster.
At our local 1/8th mile track the 7.50 and under needs cage that sure would
be cutting it close!Still trying to do the same like you did move up from the 928 to a 997TT.
Thanks for the answer on the 1/8th mile ET.

No problem! This is fast enough! I don't want to add a cage because I would need at least a door bar for the strip . . .

Never had it happen at the track and the box in the 997TT is so easy, it would be hard.

Ok. So what's your experience with the optimum rpms to let go of the clutch in one of these cars or is 5500 the best revs to get it off the blocks to lay down the best time?

Also, i can't see by your in car video whether you have the sports chrono overboost function. Is it SC, and if so were you usiing that?

Of the launches I tried, 5500 worked best. Anything lower then 5K and you will get a tire chirp and then bog down to 2.5K and have to wait a sec to get going. The 5500 launch chattered the tires for a split second then it settled at 3K and off I went.

So 5-5500 is the best rpm to launch based on my results this past Sat.

Yes, my car is a SC car and I had it on BUT, I left the suspension is standard, not sport. I wanted to get the weight over the rear quicker and standard will let the car squat a little more.

Default trip

Thanks DOC for the run...question for you that have trip instead of manual but first let me tell you what I have experienced. When launching my 07tt with the break holding me back the most I can rev is about 2k and anything over that the engine bogs down. Am I doing something wrong or is that just the way it is with the auto?...rrm

Default tires

It sounds as if you have much experience with the 997.1 TT's so please let me ask you another question.
I have 305 Mitch PS2's. In your experience it that the best tire for the quickest 0-60 street drags? Or is there some other street tire I should consider? rrm
