Default DRL Question

Just noticed that my DRL's on an 08 997TT are different than my previous 06 997C4S Both with Sport Chrono so I can select DRL from the PCM under individual preferences. With DRL selected on the 06 only the headlights (low beam, full power) were illuminated. On the 08 every light is on except the interior dash lights - headlights, front and side running lights, and even the tail lights. Normal??

DRL on a pre-997.2 Turbo?? Unless aftermarket then I don't think so. Are you talking about side-lights?

I have DRL selected on my '08 and every exterior light is on except the dash. Low beam HL, rear tail light, side marker. Normal as you say.

Thanks for the confirmation - I just don't remember them all being lit on my 07.

Alex (UK) - 997.1 have DRL in US and Canada (not sure about ROW) - user selectable if you have PCM and Sport Chrono, if not then dealer can activate. Mandatory in Canada.

Confused - 997.2 Turbo was the first to have DRL - where the fog lights are.

What does a 997.1 Turbo DRL lights on look like please?

I have an '08 Turbo and other than putting side lights on with the lights switch, I don't know of any DRL settings.

Alex, you are confused because your steering wheel is on the wrong side. :-)

Really, it could be just an ROW/US thing. Have you tried through the PCM?

The DRL on the 2007 997.1 was just headlights (low beam at full power). On my 2008 997.1 DRL is everylight on except the interior dash lights - just like driving at night with lights on but with no dash lights. On the US 997.1, DRL can be user selected on through the PCM if you have Sport Chrono option - if you don't then the dealer can turn them on.

One other difference I noticed between by 07 and 08 is that when I shut the car down in the garage during the day (headlamp switch off), I get a message on the dash that the DRl is off - didn't have that on my 07.

On the PCM, select Main then Set and you should see options for individual setting and daytime running lights is one of the options. The light option is not available if the car is moving so you have to turn it on when your parked.

Here's a strange one.

Battery went down in my Key 1, so I switched to Key 2.

Noticed that none of the previously set DRLs, as above, were on.

Switched back to Key 1 and they are on.

Put back Key 2, pressed Main, then Set button on the right of the PCM. Brings up Running Lghts. Selected it and all came on again.

Conclusion: The DTRL selection is Key specific.

AFAIK, any personal settings you make in the PCM (DRL, door locks, etc.) are mapped to the specific key.
