The 991 platform will be longer and wider in order to improve the upcoming 2015 emission regulations which are based on the "footprint" of the car. The more room for rear seat argument is just a way to market the change in the dimensions. They may put a hybrid battery into the extra space created but this in my view would kill one of the best thing about 997 platform - it is lighter than most of competitors in the performace class. I hope 991 Turbo will stay under 3500 lbs.

After reading some of the articles about the 991 c2s handling I am looking forward to the Turbo version. Hopefully they can debug some of the issues I have read with the loss of steering feel. I would think that a longer wider wheelbase would help as long as the weight stays about the same, but I would be interested in hearing from someone who has a better understanding of vehicle dynamics than I do.

WOW, that is a quite revealing spy shot. Yep, that is what it will look like, but with more rear 1/4 details to come...

I like the bulk look. I'm also partial to women with big behinds!

Tacet ...well said as am I ... Those rear intakes if real and not a cover up are pretty large.... I like the wide rear stance ... Man can't wait to see it unmasked .

I was told today by the sales manager at my dealership that the 991 Turbo coupe will not be available until model year 2014, and that Porsche will continue producing the 997 Turbo and Turbo S through model year 2013. Has anyone else heard the same or otherwise?

just put a deposit on one. dealer said that the new 991 coming in next month is called 2012 model even though porsche is offering other 997.2 models as 2012 as well (GTS etc).
he said the new turbo should be 2 years later but porsche might expedite its release to 2013 as 2014 model. we will see, cant wait...

I'm sitting on the fence between the current 997 turbo-s or 991 turbo, if performance and power increase of the next model is significant I might regret going for the current model, struggling with a decision

If money is seriously not an issue, order the S and trade for the 991 in a year or two if the 991 rocks your boat.

If money is a consideration, start saving more now and wait for the 991. You'll have more money to pay for it meaning lower payents, won't get hit with the depreciation on the S (if you decide later you'd rather have the 991), and you'll have a newer and better Porsche.

I really like the 997 TTS and played with the configurator a LOT. That said, I'm planning on waiting for the 991, but if it comes out and for some reason I like the 997 TTS better, I will have missed my chance for a new one spec'd my way. My gamble, my loss. However, I trust Porsche that the 991 will be better for my style of driving. With all due respect to the purists out there, I'm getting older, and my reflexes might need some nanny help to keep it pointed in the right direction.

I was hoping the Turbo would be more like the boxster front with some Turbo added, it kinda looks like an old boxster from the front due to those intercooler intakes. doesn't seem very "turbo". Maybe it will change before final production.

Any word on the C4S... my dealer's got nothing.
I've got a C2S cab on order but won't get it till July/August and if the C4S is starting to be build in Dec/Jan. than I'd rather have that since I won't use it till spring.
