Default Will there be a 2012 turbo

I have a 2007 Turbo now with 38000 miles on it that I'm debating whether or not to trade in. If the next turbo won't be out until 2013 I'll probably buy a 2010 while I wait however if the next turbo is coming next year I'll just make do with my 2007. Any input would be appreciated.

"Make do" ? Ah I'm jealous of you guys! I'm a newbie here learning for my first purchase, which will hopefully come in the next year or two. There is a lot to learn but besides from some early 996 non turbo engine issues I am impressed with how reliable a well cared for Porsche can wear. I'm leaning towards the 996 or the 997. TT.

If the base 991 comes out as a 2012 model in late 2011, I doubt we'll see a Turbo until mid 2013 with a 2014 designation. I recall a 2005 base 997 prior to the 2007 997 Turbo released in mid-2006. So I think we'll see a 2 year gap. I'd like to see it sooner, but doubt it will happen.

That really passes me off. The Cayenne and Panamera debut with turbo models. Why can't the 911?

I believe the order was something like
C2/C2S, then C4/C4S, then Targas, then Turbo, then GT3, then GT3RS, then GT2 and GT3RS, then Turbo S, then GT2RS. This ignores the 150 other variants released by Porsche in the 997 lineup.

I agree that it will likely be 2 years until the turbo model comes out after the launch of the 991. But who knows.

It is possible that the 997 Turbo/S will still be sold when the 991 C2/C2S debut. IIRC, the 996TT was available when the 997 was launched.

What's your estimated build month for the 2012 TTS? My 2011TT was just completed last month so I'm curious when the 2012 MY begins production.

I think August was the earliest build month I've seen.

I agree with fibredog; the 991 turbo arrives Fall 2013 as a 2014. This Fall the new Carrera S becomes available with the 4S as a 2013 and the next turbo as a 2014. I have a 997 turbo manual being built because the dealer inquired with PCNA and was told no turbo for 2012 and the last few turbo S builds will be late 2011. Unclear if they will be called 2012s, however, I doubt the last few Turbo S will be labeled 2012 as the 2005 Turbo S was built along side the 2006 Carrera S.

Anybody have black center lock wheels? I ordered my 2011 with black wheels and am uncertain about the choice.

I put down a deposit to hold a slot for the next gen turbo. Dealer said we may see it late 2013.
